Must be hell of a powerful if it needs that rear "air Brake" going up hill!!!
:fencelook:

VW/Audi and Ford all have different versions of this trailer. Ford's one being the simplest by just being a shutterboard upright on a trailer frame...

VW on the other hand has a sneaky powered trailer which has it's own engine in and is pretty streamline behind the vehicle being tested. This trailer 'pushes' the test vehicle way beyond the speed that the car would obtain via it's own steam.

In 1998 they tested the VR6 MK3 and with a claimed top speed of 222km/h on it's own, the technician in Upington told me they got close to 300km/h with the trailer... Scary stuff.

This was the same year they tested the Lambo SV (the baby Lambo) and got 312km/h top speed This was the car's own performance though.

What's that trailer for, anyways?

Carries all the data logging computers etc. There are normally a bunch of cables running through the boot into the trailer. This one functions with a wind shied to give the car something to work against. But it depends, the Ford one I saw only had a skeletal trailer with a windshield.

The second one had a trailer too. The 3rd one, no trailer

The park at the bottom of the pass just before the rise. I also saw a group of 3 there.
