I am sure most of you will know how Lexus cracked the american market but may be worthwhile repeating.
First of all if a car presented a fault they would collect it from your premises and leave you with an equivalent loan car fix your car and arrange with you to have it dropped off and collect the loaner once fixed.
Second you could drop your car off at night and collect it in the morning fully serviced and if something needed attention beyond the overnight work a loan car was available to you.
Needless to say that in the space of 3 years they had dented the hold of Merc and BMW in the luxury car segment.
Did BMW or Merc learn from it?
Doubt it.
Have they regained the lost market share in the USA......No
