The SA stats would be quite the opposite.

The VW Citi Golf, Polo Playa etc, have been number one for years in SA. The problem is that VW has never changed the design, and these vehicles get used/chopped as parts to fix older ones.

Where do most car thefts and hijackings occur in SA?
That's one thing I'm concerned about. As a young guy, I go out to parties and what not, so I wanna know which areas are high risk and which are low risk.

I know to avoid Rivonia road in Sandton, that place in one hell of a hot spot.

Well according to everyone(insurance, etc) it is still a code 2 car as no numbers have changed, and no stamps were made on the engine(by SAPS), but please correct me if I am wrong.. I only got it back last Friday and still need to do the registration, but I want to fix the damages first...

Any help or tips would be much appreciated.

My 2006 320d M-Sport was stolen last year July...without a tracker

Miraculously they recovered it in February this year, with only minor damages like Passenger window knoked out and scratches on the bumpers..

I'm thinking of selling the vehicle as I don't have any other option(already bought another car), does anybody perhaps know what I can ask for it seeing as it only has 139000km on the clock and lots of extra's...

These stats are useless, since they are for the UK, and have very little applicability here.

On your 320d - it is now a Code 3 and you will have to disclose that to the buyer, or suffer dearly under the CPA. That will severely affect your resale value. Look at the prices for similar cars on autotrader and then make up an attractive price from that. Extras count for nothing unless you are buying a new car.

I think it is too late for a new thread.

From what I understand, once a car is stolen, it is deregistered. Then when it is recovered, you need to re-register it, which is the same as re-registering a car that was scrapped and rebuilt - hence it becomes a code 3. But we have metro cop on board that can clear that out for us.

The only time a car becomes code 3, is if it's classed as a rebuilt, so you crashed it, or scrapped it,
and now you need to register it... code 3.

Code 1 - new, so you da first owner... sweet so the car is "new"
code 2 - you are the second, 3rd, 4th...etc owner, so the car is "used"
code 3 - car was scrapped, either because of an accident, or the vehicle was taken out of the country, or the owner decided to scrap it,
so code 3 is then "rebuilt" status.
