BMW M6 driver ploughs through concrete wall

Maybe he will post on the forum soon, asking for advice, cause his insurance is repudiation his claim, and he was only doing 60km/h, and hit a oil patch in the road. :tiptoe:

Hey - hey - hey......

Lets not get too excited about insurance companies at the moment.

I am fighting with mine regarding some new policy stating an excess if using my vehicle between 05H00 and 21H59.....and then another if using my vehicle between 22H00 and 04H49.

WTF????

Oh, and then my current claim for 14k after someone dinged the back of my bakkie rendering the tailgate useless whilst parked either at work or at a shopping centre......and not leaving details.

So guess who is getting a proper one up the chuff at the moment? :bin:

This is nothing new. It's been a clause in many policies for many years. Just never highlighted until you have a late night accident....

The rationale of course is that if you are on the road late at night your chances of either having been drinking or alternatively being in an accident with someone who has been drinking is increased.

The stats are there just not shouted about.

MC, is your insurance maybe called discovery. Mine doesnt have these rules of what time I can do whatever.

Oh and this idiot in the bmw crashed into the gate in 6 sec and about 2 of that he had his feet planted solid on the brakes as you can see that the wheels are not turning from just before he gets to the gate. Maybe he got whip-lashed in the first 2 "corners"

I completely understand in terms of excesses and policies, but I became rather annoyed when I stated that my vehicle was used during the day and not late at night.

Then noting the difference in R1500 between the two amounts, I asked the question: "So should I rather NOT use my vehicle and just pay insurance for it to stand in the garage?"

Theres also the other question I have in terms of what was signed for and what wasn't. This additional excess was not part of my structure, now miraculously is.

Funny enough, its not part of the excess structure for my motorcycle portfolio either - both bike and car with the same underwriters.

I only question the point of having such an excess during the day - when most expected to use a vehicle.

And then of course when did this excess come about if not part of my original documentation with no notice of additional excess made or addendum.

I cant be held liable for a change I wasn't notified of and didn't sign for.

No, thankfully not.

MC, hope you get sorted soon. That is just crazy, but I will need to update mine as I am moving to Cape town this week so will read the fine print again to ensure that time is not included in mine.

Hope you get sorted and Sterkte

Thanks.

Same your side.

Driving between 05H00 and 21H59?? How many of us work and drive at these times during the week just for work so we can afford to pay for said vehicle and said insurance?? :withStu:

Essentially need to get the ding sorted so I can make the trade for my 320D - which is due to be done next Saturday........

So I am sure we can all agree that this is a pretty important situation to finalise and get the repair done? :skit:

So sad. And sakhir orange too!

I've seen this happen to guys who turn the TC off for the very first time and/or attempt to launch without learning how the car is going to behave or regard for what the surface is like. Remember the one in the F10 at ODI? 400+ on the wheels and hundreds of Nm from just above idle (which many of these cars make stock) isn't playing around. Unfortunately because Clarkson or Harris says you aren't a man if you don't have TC off, they get caught out.

Driving with MDM is good enough for me 99% of the time...

I am guessing insurance is going to be difficult with him based on the footage.

If anyone knows the owner I want some stuff off that car to play around with... Seriously - if the insurance doesn't pay out I am sure he will be parting out.

What a twat! Looks like he was out of control when he turned into the road. The polo had to swerve to avoid him. He gave it way too much gas while the car was turning. At least there is one less moron on the road
