Bmw M6 damage Old Mutual nightmare

Honestly never knew it made such a difference to have a broker.

I recieved another estimate from ARC bmw sandton. This time for R25000.

Honestly concerned they trying to do a half job of repairing my vehicle. My car was pristine before this accident.

Decided I'm paying for the repairs out of pocket at a repairer of my choosing and finding a new insurer for all my vehicles.

Here’s food for thought . Let sandton arc repair the car on your insurances dime . If you’re not happy after that , then proceed to repair the car to your satisfaction , the other option is to purchase a new door and let the arc do their thing … but ensure that you ask for all your old parts back so that you get whatever is billed

You definitely need to move your business elsewhere .

Always go through a broker, never go direct; and that includes buying a BMW/Jaguar/etc branded product off the showroom floor. You might think these are a manufacturer insurance product, but it is actually just a direct policy with an underwriter.

The broker will fight on your behalf and the underwriters know that if they screw their brokers' customers, they'll lose the broker and all their customers.

PS. The underwriters are in bed with the ombudsman; the ombudsman will likely side with the underwriter give or take. (They're on a first name basis.) Without a broker, the only way you'll win is if you persist and never give up; which is what they're counting on most people to do.

Ya that's basically what I have done. Just concerns me if I was to have a serious accident or a total loss could I count on them?

Good point regarding the broker, never looked at it from the perspective before.

All my previous claims have been in Swaziland, which has been an absolute breeze. They get 3 quotes from competent guys. They go with the lowest typically, or your favored repairer if it's within reason.

I don't get all this automated online estimate nonsense based on pictures.

So just my 2 cents .. I'm in the panelbeating industry but fortunately I'm not affiliated to any insurance companies as u can see why .. To much red tape and also u have to tow the lines ...I personally had a claim a month back...I insured my rims for an additional amount as they were not the standard ones on the vehicle so I hit a pothole and the rim cracked beyond repair the tire was already halfway out so I just replaced that so when I claimed from the broker for the rims they told me that amount I stipulated only comes into account in the event the car is written off ..so I told the broker what nonsense is that...I demanded them to be paid out after 3 days of fighting eventually they said let's proceed with the claim and see what happens...the assessment company contacted me required all images .. Everything digital and then said they will get to me...the insurance asked me for proof of pot hole lol ..I Glady sent a pic and sent my ref aswell that I reported that pot hole aswell after alot of fighting they agreed to pay out with the minus of 3500 excess I said fine .. But all these companies sadly work hand in hand I had a clients car that came to me as a cash job cause his insurance refused to fix the car up to it's standards... They did fix it using aftermarket parts where he had gaps and the fitment wasn't aligned and he took it back 3 times and they told him due to being out of warranty they don't cover into OEM parts eventually he got fed up contacted the ombudsman and took ages for his issue to come out and the outcome was unfortunately we can't do anything as per manufacturers specifications as vehicle is out of manufactures warranty and he had to pay that 10k excess the job was quoted about 60k..when we re did the job..he purchased OEM parts from a scrap yard his total bill was not more then 20k including painting and assembling ..

So managed to source a used bmw door, as I'm paying for this out of pocket.

On a gents advise from the forum managed to sand back the carbon fibre trim and reclear it.

Gave give iwyze/old mutual notice and looking for a new insurance, with a broker haha.

As per the article above if you don't have a tracker in your vehcile by that date, you won't be covered for hijackings.
