Bmw M6 damage Old Mutual nightmare

So last night I parked the car in the drive. With the irritating DCT box it doesn't always go into park mode. Was distracted and reached over to get my cigars. Car ran back with the door open hit the carport pole and literally folded back on itself

Looking like a new door and window mechanism isn't sounding to healthly. Main concern is the panel gap above the front fender.

Am I overly concerned for no reason? Little ocd about my cars.

Any advise on where I should get this repaired in the midrand area?

Cheers

Euan

I would recommend ABS/Midrand ARC.(989 Richards Dr, Halfway House, Midrand) Im sure @TurboLlew will agree and share his input.

Yup ABS is where I would send it. They will keep you updated as well through the process. Definitely going to be a new door and fender. They will sort that gap out when fitting it. You won't even notice it once they are done.

If you switch the car off in 1st/reverse and it doesn't go into park, there is something wrong that should be checked out! It should only stay in neutral if you switch the car off in neutral (if I remember correctly?) and even then, the parking brake should have held it in place.

Have noticed it does it intermittently.

Thanks Guys I'm going to speak to my insurance and insist it goes to ABS.

Must say having an terrible experience trying to make a claim with old mutual. Couple weeks later after them trying every trick they can to avoid taking responsibility as my insurer.

They say due to my vehcile being out of warranty I must take it to Renew it on rivonia road. Which get horrific reviews from what I have Read.

Please stay far away from any Renew-It franchise.
Back in the day when I knew no better I followed insurance advice and sent it to a Renew-It. Someone reversed into me a few months after the repair and white filler just fell out everywhere. The assessor was even horrified that they're on any insurance panels.

Insurers will sometimes ask you to complete a disclaimer if you send to your chosen repairer that isn't on their panel but I doubt they can force you to send it to their suggested repairer. Please use ABS whatever you do.

I'll PM you my broker details who deal with Santam & OMI, I've never filled out a claim form since joining them and claims have been painless.

So it appears like I will only get compensated for the value of aftermarket non genuine parts.

If I want a genuine bmw door on my m6 then I must foot the difference.

Is this the norm for SA insurers? Little shocked they can do that.
