....20 Days later...I really don't know what to say.....They don't know what is wrong and the car is being used as a test peace....I actuality just ask them to install a new starter just to get things going after I contacted the previous owner and he said he had starter problems and a shorted armature that they repaired....sitting at 20k for the starter job I see a shit storm arriving...

R20k for a starter? Are they making it from Panda?

Diagnosing something like this should not take 20 days... and 20K? You may as well have gone to a dealer...

Hi everyone..
Just an update ...we removed the car from Brilliant mechanic workshop yesterday afternoon at 1pm and sent it to Forsdicks Tygervalley , The car had a booking today for 11am and at 11.27 they called to say they started the car..The main cause for car not starting was the cas and the DME was out of sync .....the car still have a large short or huge current drain and they are hunting for the fault. i still think the starter has something to do with it and the costing is about 15k for the starter and more or less 5k for labor...I am happy to pay for that but after 20 days of no feedback from the previous repair garage that was pathetic,

And there we have.....Went to collect car on Saturday...and guss what....it was never the starter...it was the CAS unit that was all shorted and burnt...WOW The agents was amazing and the best service ever.:bravo: To end of...I think if one sits with this type of car and something beyond normal goes wrong the agents are the best people to take it too....The bill was about 11k and that included diagnostics and programming of keys..You guys at BMW Forsdicks really rock!!!

Glad you got your car sorted, I prefer the agents for complex things, who knows what you may have ended paying elsewhere

I haven't used SMG Tygervalley much, but the few times I used them for the free airbag recalls on 3 different E46s, each time I had excellent service from them. There actually quite a few guys at this dealership that still appreciate the older BMs with the really awesome engines in, and when they see one in as good condition as yours, they actually take extra care with it.

Very happy to see you got this car sorted. :smilebounce:
