The idea with the higher profile is just to add a litte more comfort. From reading up it seems the 40 profile might be an issue up front. The 35 at the back looks to be OK. So perhaps 35 all round?

Check if your insurance will be fine with a tyre size/profile change.
Also may need to play with the circumference calculator to see if speedo needs recalibration.
I think if you are selling the car, will the change in tyre specs not negatively impact your selling price, since most buyers will want the sportier tyre set up?
I can't recall if you said you have kids or planning to start a family, but change in priorities may lead to this car having to go (apologies if you explained your long term plans already).
Iv always gone broader in tyre width not higher in profile.
The sidewall stiffness you are trying to overcompensate for will be apparent by just changing to non run flats. "Mixed Tyres" was an oem option on your car so its not something new to the platform and there really should be alot of information available on various forums

Which tyre? Frmo what I see now you get a 225/35/19 Michelin 4S but not a 245/30/19 4S

Michelin 4S was my go-to, but I recently tried out Vitour Formula Z after being recommended by Ash from Xcede (he's also running them) and I truly can't complain about it. I was a tad skeptical at first reading about all the sidewall problems with them but in all honesty I've had no problems in dry or wet weather.
I think it's each to their own at the end of the day, down here in Cape Town we don't really have bad roads like in Jozi so that might be why I don't have any trouble with potholes wrecking the sidewalls (I don't really see any tyre saving you from Jozi potholes anyway).
But regarding Vitour feedback if it should help you decide:
If you go through tyres fairly fast (it automatically comes with the tuning) they are way cheaper than a set of Mich4S
Grip - I don't have any problems here unless I want to have the car slide around
Noise - I don't know, I hear nothing in the car except exhaust note, even more with windows down
Speed - Past Full clock with more to go and nothing to note
You would probably go with Mich though, another option might be Pirelli PZero, friend of mine always praises them although I have no experience with them

OK - looks like I am going to pull the trigger on the 225/35/19 & 245/30/19 PS4S non run flat tyres...hoping it really makes a difference

@Salt For aftermarket warranty perhaps look into M-sure, I have signed up with them in the past but never had a need to claim.
My friend has used them on multiple of his cars and has had to claim a few times and the process was fairly simple and straight forward and they paid out without issues - you may need to clarify the mods with them though although once again depending on how you word it, it may not be an issue.
I feel it is common for many to replace their worn suspension with non OEM suspension.
With my Kia my stock HU died, so I replaced it with an aftermarket one as OEM can be crazy expensive and offer far less features compared to an aftermarket one.

Did you check the BMW warrenty, from what I understand it's 2 years without limits if taken out before the MP expires.

I think the BMW 2-year 250 000km warranty is around R17k.

Hi all,
So, I've taken the first step - I've put on brane new rubber
245/30/19 and 225/35/19 NON RUNFLAT Michelin Pilot Sport 4S. And I must say, they have indeed made a very noticeable difference! Very happy with my choice. The ride is considerably better. Thank you for the good advice.
I have a question - if I put in an Android MMI box - would BMW pick it up when the car goes in for service? I am probably going to take out an extended warranty - but guess that should someone notice the MMI box it won't void the warranty in totality.
The plan for after motor plan is the 3year service plan from BMW and an extended warranty combined - still comparing the cover options for the warranty.

I was doing a couple of upgrades that started about 2 years back
1. I installed a downpipe and left the rest of the exhaust standard. I like that it does not drone on long drives. I have a family so I did not want something too loud. It sounds a bit meaner in sports mode and allowed me to get a Celtic Tuning stage 2 software installed which gives the car an extra 40-50kw. I also bought the screw on exhaust tips. Just to make them look bigger
2. Bigger tires came with the car but they did not sit right. I bought another set but those were too wide and the tires are stretched. Too many sidewall punctures and selling them now to get an original set the same like what you posted in your pictures. Here I installed H&R spacers and Koni active shocks. They are stiff when the road is smooth and become soft when you go over bumps. The best of both worlds I felt. I also bought lowered springs from BMW because the H&R or Eibach seemed a bit too low.
3. Mainly for aesthetics I changed the front grills, put some carbon fiber spoilers and when my brakes needed changing I had slotted and drilled discs installed.
4. I bought the underbody brace and felt a difference. It made the car a bit more stable. Thinking of buying the one that goes above the engine as well because the car is generally a bit loose feeling. I have changed all the mounts to harder ones from Powerflex I believe the brand is

That’s not bad at all for OEM cover, and that’s no limits all round from what it seems.
M Sure (Engine Room) is R22k for their pre-owned “no limits” warranty (there are limits on certain components but no limits on major stuff like gearbox, transmission etc)

Hey mr...hope you are well. Pickingip up on the tpms topic again...I've brought 4 x 434MHz sensors and installed them in the wheels. I've enabled the tpms screen in the idrive with Bimmercode and I've checked that I have the receiver in the rear quarter panel. It didn't self activate like some people on forums did. So I recon I need some coding done. Any suggestions on who can do that for me?I'd look at innovations, cheaper month to month, and unlikely to have issues with suspension upgrades - unless you claiming on an item that is close to the suspension (ie. wheel bearing, etc). Also the claim benefits are closer to the double up cover mentioned above.
MMI box > screen replacement - unlikely to cause any warranty issues - as its a 'mechanical' warranty (which you generally find out at claim stage that this means only 'moving' parts - been burnt by this already....when i tried to claim a boost pipe
OEM 405m 19s have 8j rears...245s will the max width.
A proper TPMS retrofit can be done (costly). You will need the sensors, control module, wiring and coding.
