the idea of a AWD 1 or 3 series is about as bad as a FWD 1 or 3 series

luckily bmw dont agree. they have been doing awd 3 series for a long time now just not in this country.

the m135i already has an xdrive version

and now for the f30:
"New BMW 3 Series Sedan with BMW xDrive as from the summer.

As from the second half of the year, the new BMW 3 Series Sedan will be optionally equipped with the intelligent four-wheel drive system BMW xDrive. The dynamic sports sedan and BMW xDrive will form an ideal combination in the models BMW 320i, BMW 328i and BMW 335i. Thanks to electronic control and millisecond-fast power distribution between the front and rear wheels, BMW xDrive guarantees supreme traction, unparalleled safety and first-class handling. Furthermore, xDrive ensures optimum performance in all kinds of weather and road conditions. As a result, the potential of even the most powerful BMW 3 Series four-wheel drive sedan, the BMW 335i xDrive delivering 225 kW/306 hp and a maximum torque of 400 Nm, can be utilised in a particularly efficient way. The BMW 335i xDrive does the sprint from 0 - 100 km/h (0-62mph) in just 5.0 seconds. Power distribution of BMW xDrive is effected so rapidly that the vehicle is stabilised before the driver even notices the need to react. The model 320d xDrive is also in preparation.

And that eight speed auto is for oldtoppies.:fencelook:

Totally Disagree....

LOL, while I would definitely get the manual, as far as daily drivers go, these new 8 speed auto boxes are simply brilliant - the car is faster, and more efficient, but not as much fun ;)

I would think that the Sports Automatic would be fun with the Steering paddle shift keys.

of course I know that :flyfun: :rollsmile:

BUT
ix models are slower (depends on what slower means, it might be faster to 60), heavier, uses more fuel, more expensive and handle worse than their RWD equivilents.

I would never in a million years choose, for example, a 335ix over a 335i

Of course. It is a matter of opinion after all. Fact is, it's an absolutely brilliant car and offers excellent gearbox options to suit both tastes.

We all have preferences. I was just kidding. That 8 speed auto is just awesome, but I would prefer a DCT. It's a pity that the 1M never got the option of a DCT.:nonono:

i reckon a dct version with LC and x drive will leave the rs3 for dead.

also note -
RS3 = 2.5l 5cyl single turbo
M135 = 3.0l 6cyl twinscroll turbo

1/2L + 1 cyl + extra scroll :fencelook:

both are super cars , future classics , etc

135 impressive on top end run , so im jus gona race it till 200 & game over :joy:

haha extra scroll:rollsmile:

totally agree there.

I so hoped the RS3 would be a good and fun car, not to beat bmw, just because its a cool little car with an awesome engine. Sad that its not. well according to most journos anyway.

Still will never buy a m135i, just too ugly.

and the RS3 is much more expensive. i dont do the whole engine capacity debate thing because then you wouldnt be able to compare the C63 to anything! all i am saying is there is an xdrive version of the m135i which should take out the RS3 in every department even though the m135i has less power. why would anyone then spend the extra on a dull rs3?

bmw ftw and looking at the black one on the showroom floor in another thread. :joy:

I doubt that the RS3 will be a future classic, especially when the competition are tearing it apart with a car that isn't even from their performance division.

And while the look of the new 1-series is questionable, it sure beats an A3 with a slightly different bumper.

I remember when the first generation 1 series came out, pretty much everyone hated it, myself included. But the advent of the M sport pack made a big difference and I found that I grew to really like it.

The same is happening with the F20. Especially with the 3 door M sport.
