Hi guys,

Any advice welcome...

The car was started on a hot day, aircon full on then about 5km into the drive Drivetrain malfunction, you have limited power.
After I switched off for like 5 minutes, the error hasn't come back and the car drives like normal? :hammerhead:

Car has like 3k on the clock with no mods.

Thanks in advance.

Just watch if it happens again and then send it to the dealer. The heat has affected plenty a car...

My X3's fan came on during the heatwave during a cold start...:=):
Never happened before...i just left her till the next day and all good again. Electronics confusion in this heat i guess.

Your car has stored the error although it doesn't show now, take it back to bmw and ask them to check the error, explain the same as what you said here and they will be able to check what happened.

Hope this helps.

Thanks guys , much appreciated.

Haven't even launched her yet, got her brand new last year only 3000km now bud.

I will speak to BMW and book it in.

How do you even activate launch control?

Fix her first before you try the launch thing.

Once fixed update this thread with an update to your problem and then ask it again and I am dead sure some of us will help you with the launch control setup *too much*

My 335i went into limp mode in traffic originally when the car got hot.. JSN loaded new software and the car never did so ever again, pulls hard in all weather conditions even during the heatwave while I was in the Freestate no issues.. So book it in, they'll probably do the same...

Keep us posted :coolShake:

Howzit guys

So as i mentioned in the 1st comment , after the error I switched off for a few minutes & started it up.... the error was gone and car was driving and sounding perfectly fine. In fact, Durban just makes the M135i with m-performance box sound so much better than in jhb.

It showed a wastegate error and the technician says it could be anything from the trip to Durban or just "dirty air" ....

I did do a further +1000kms after that error in Durban until I had a chance to take it to BMW the past week, BM says if it persists then I should book it in for a full day. They cleared the errors and I don't have any issues at moment.

Thanks

Hi there

see below.

Do not use Launch Control too often, as
otherwise the high load on the vehicle
leads to premature component wear.<
Launch control is available to you when the
engine is at operating temperature, in other
words once you have been driving uninterrupted
for at least 10 km, approx. 6 miles.
1. With the engine running, depress the brake
with your left foot.
2. Activating Dynamic Traction Control DTC,
see page 86.
3. Activating Driving Dynamics Control, see
page 68.
4. With the vehicle stationary, activate manual
mode and select 1st gear.
5. Depress the accelerator pedal with your
right foot, passing beyond the resistance
point. The engine speed for pulling away is
established. A flag symbol appears in the
instrument cluster.
6. The vehicle accelerates when you release
the brake pedal. Keep the accelerator pedal
fully depressed.
7. Upshifting is automatic as long as the accelerator
pedal remains depressed beyond the
resistance point.
Launch Control cannot be called up a second
time until a certain distance has been covered.
Launch control is not available during running
in, see page

Regards

J

Howzit bud,

BM technician told me dirty air? As the error was showed up on the intake side .....

The guy just cleared the fault and said if it happens again book it in for a full day.

This happened in earlier in the year. It never happened again after that.

Cheers
