Hi Fanatics,

I've recently joined.
I grew up around BMW's and finally have purchased my own BMW. Got an E90 320i 2011 Sports Pack , colour is blue water metallic.

been reading up on which is the best product to detail my car. Meguiars caught my eye. took my car to Supertech (Rossburgh) spoke to the guy who runs the wash bay and he advised to use Meguiars. they sprayed on the Quik Detailer and its been almost a week and the body still feels smooth.

i had a bottle of gold class Carnauba Premium Liquid Wax, decided to use it today along with the Carways Wheel Brite for the wheels and washed the car with gold class shampoo & conditioner.

Pics below.
BEFORE:

After:

i wanted to change the kidney grilles to gloss black and colour the calipers. what do you guys think? i havent seen my colour with these mods. i still have motorplan on the car. if i colour the calpiers will this affect it?

Hope to hear from you guys.

Welcome! Ooh sexy sexy sexy - exactly like my '09 I had
Best colour ever!!

Black kidneys would look cool, look take it from me (and many members will agree with this) if motorplan is important to you then rather do not mess with anything that could affect it until it's lapsed.

Cosmetic mods are fine, BMW do not care what you fit / do regarding that

If it is a manual - just watch out, I popped 4 clutches in mine :fencelook:

Again awesome car and welcome

Hi Guys. So it's long over due. I've upgraded to a F30 320i since this year May. Really enjoying the car. Some additions I've added. High performance kidney grills and performance strips. Had the side vinyls but for some reason the guys couldn't put it on. They said it's not cut right. It's the original from BMW for a F30. Will take it back and check with them. Pics to follow.

Apologies for the long post but thought it best and easiest for you. The E90's have a plastic CDV and is a little trickier to bleed. But such a worth while mod as it is essentially free. This will make your clutch last significantly longer once its removed. The sooner you do it the better.

So I had the car on the lift today for some other reasons but we'll focus on the CDV delete.

Here you can see the CDV situated on the port (left) side of the gearbox looking twd the front of the car. It's the thing connecting between the steel hose (slave cylinder side) and rubber hose (master cylinder side) Some yellow marks on it.

Also Note at this stage no covers have been removed NOTHING! I'm simply standing underneath the car looking in. There is however one aluminium "aerodynamic plate" that I removed for ease of access afterwards. 4 10mm screws and it comes out.

With the small cover off I clamped the rubber hose with a vice grip to minimise fluid loss. Which was successful :)

The only tools you'll need are a 11mm open spanner 2 17mm spanners a vice grip or equivalent G clamp or C clamp and a 7mm spanner for bleeding.

They unscrewed fairly easily once unfastened. The yellow circle is the actual CDV. I placed the rubber line upwards so it didn't spill any fluid, about 5ml came out once it was undone. Minor.

Unscrew the CDV from the steel line - yellow circle

And then it should look like this

And that's pretty much it guys.

I haven't removed the guts of the valve yet. It's still got the little o-ring / rubber washer in there. I'm not really phased since I won't be using it anyway. Just keeping it as a tool to explain to others.

Now what I did reassembling it is keep the vice on the rubber hose and topped up with brake fluid. And whilst keeping it at an incline I reattached it to the steel hose side and tightened it.

I have not bled the system yet. I tested it once I was done and noticed a minor improvement before driving off. I prefer having my dad help me when bleeding as I'm paranoid about getting air in the system.

I can say this however, I replenished more fluid in that small line then what came out when I removed it. Maybe it was never properly bled but after driving with the car all I can say is WOW. What an improvement!

My initial fear was that the car was going to have a Brutal clutch engagement and it doesn't. It drives like a normal car. More direct engagement and no jerking.

It doesn't affect the hill assist whatsoever.

So driving home I just had to put it to the test.

The car was still cold as home is pretty close. DSC off.

Once engine oil was on temp I figured hell, I have to give it worst case scenario test, so thinking that the gearbox is still cool I pushed hard in 1st and snapped to 2nd, the rear wheels chirped easily and even snatching to 3rd it chirped as well. WOW what a smooth changing of cogs. I was frightened that I was going to hear that horrid grind but nothing.

Also from a stand still she engages 1st properly. I'll only be able to give more feedback as I've driven more with the car. I've only done like 4km since the delete.

When pressing the clutch whilst in 1st gear I use to sometimes get a clunking noise from the releasing action. It's still there but much more muted. The general feeling I'm getting is that the gearbox is just behaving more healthily. And bearing in mind that the whole drive-train is now susceptible to a real hammering.

I've done my tests and will just enjoy the car now :)

Thanks for reading.
