I decided to check the actual fuel consumption on the F30 today.

Car: F30 330d m sport auto
Route: Centurion to Klerksdorp and back (N1/N12)

It was my normal driving habits; cruising on Eco Pro mode and switched to Sport mode when required to overtake quickly. I stuck to the speed limit throughout the trip with cruising at 100-120km/h (depending on speed limit) except when overtaking of course. No one but myself in the car and not much luggage (laptop & gym bag only).

Filled up before leaving Centurion, then filled up when I left Klerksdorp and filled up again when I arrived back.

Trip to:
Time: 6am
Fuel: Engen - 50ppm
Distance: 224km
Fuel used: 13.57l
Consumption: 6.06l/100km

Trip from:
Time: 11am
Fuel: Sasol - 10ppm
Distance: 214km
Fuel used: 10.87l
Consumption: 5.07l/100km

I'm quite impressed with the fuel consumption. Although, I'm not sure what to make of the 1l/100km difference in consumption between the trip to and return, it felt like the route was more uphill when I returned - which doesn't make sense
Maybe the 13 litres of Sasol diesel made the difference? Maybe it's the time of day?

Anyway, I'm still smiling with 6l/100km :smilebounce:

Normal driving with some traffic to and from work trip computer says 6.7l/100km and I'm not complaining.

Cannot say the same for the 330i and 125i, especially the 1 series :dunnoanymore:

Excellent consumption, don't know how you do it.

The best I ever got was 5.9L/100km from Jhb to Dbn.

I'm currently getting 9.4L/100km, no freeway driving.... Driving it like it's stolen

Good on you for using actual L used, instead of relying on the OBC. In my honest opinion, if you claim certain figures you have to be able to back that up!

The difference can be due to a few factors. I'm my experience the higher consumption is caused by an "driving uphill" from A-B or B-A. The reduced consumption can be explained by that concept too. Also pay close attention to how they fill up the car. It might be a "1st click" VS "full" case.

Amazing considering the engine in that car. Well flippin done!

I must I was quite surprised with the consumption as well.

But 9.4l/100km?! Even when driving a bit aggressive it’s never higher than 8l/100km.

It could be that the return trip was more “downhill” although it felt like it’s a more “uphill” drive.

I always fill up to the first click. It annoys me when they fill up to “full” because sometimes they end up spilling some fuel and it runs down the side below the fuel cap.

That makes sense. @SINGH911 What mods do have if you don't mind me asking?

don't you find the car less responsive in Eco pro?

It definitely is not very responsive in Eco Pro but I find that for everyday driving it's sufficient for me. On the open road though I do have to switch to Sport mode to get the desired response when I need to overtake quickly but that does not happen often.

Not much of an update.

Two new rear tyres fitted, went with the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 3 runflats.

Not much of an update.

Two new rear tyres fitted, went with the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 3 runflats. Previous set had bubble on the left and damage on the right. Still had 70% tread on :dunnoanymore:

Anyone know what would cause the damage below?

Not much of an update. F30 is moving towards 94000km and there's a slight itch for something newer which I don't want to scratch :hammerhead: Motorplan was extended last year and can be extended again this year. Not a days problem with this car and I still enjoy her. She will probably remain stock while I still own her.

Some pics of her being cleaned.
