BMW F30 320i

Two tuners in SA advertise that they can do upgrades (RGM -a chip) that increases the 135Kw to 160Kw on the BMW 320I F30Torque figures go up to about 320Nm if I am not mistaken. Then I read in another motor magazine that there is another Tuner (AC Schnitzer) who claims to be able to improve figures from 135Kw to 180Kw. And torque up to 350Nm on the F30. I drive one with 18" mags and find it be very slow on aaceleration when overtaking on the open road. Either have to gear down or plan your your overtaking for a month! A bit disappointed in the car's performance. What are other F30 drivers take on the performance increase? And how about your experience with your F30 320 petrol version? 0

Depends what mode you are driving in if you in the default comfort there is sufficient power to accelerate and to take over with.

I'm surprised you feel the 320i is slow, what car did you own before it?
If you have the manual gearbox then yes, you will need to be in the right gear as the torque is not very high for overtaking.

I did the ACS power upgrade and makes a big difference, dont have after dyno figures yet however I can safely say its not very far behind the 328i.

As mentioned if you care about motorplan, its the only way to go, if not there are plenty of tuners, I think XCEDE got the 320i just over 160wkw at KAR.

Best of luck

Just not used to gearing back to get enough power to overtake. Owned a Volvo S40 T5 and an Audi 2.0 T before beemer. Also, completely forgot about the settings like comfort and sport as I hardly drive the car except on long trips. Wifey's car. I am planning to buy it from her in 2 years' time but want to do something to it before then... and I almost forgot that my e30 iS was a turbo one before the engine blew...

I was quiet chaffed with my 320i when she was stock, Comfort setting was sufficient for overtaking and being a bit stout.

I had my mods done at Xcede, good chaps and fair pricing I felt. But yes u have plenty options nationwide.

I see the price difference between the 320i and 328i is about R80k.

So now it got me thinking if you willing to pay about R60k for ACS engine upgrade (might be less this is what I was told for my 335) or say less for other after market tuners where you have great chance of losing your Motorplan, then when it comes time to selling your car you get nothing for these upgrades.
And bearing in mind you want to get the power of the 328, why not just buy the 328 in the first place?

In my view you will get the power you wanted, probably a few extra features and when it comes to reselling you don't loose on all your mods.

Just my 2c worth

You right Bernard. If it was me, I wouldn't risk the MP unless I knows that BMW cannot detect the tune once the JB is removed.

But damn the power gains are massive which you can get with the R6k JB,
if it's not detectable wen removed , (like many guys experienced with their N54s)
