- 🛞 New brake pad sensor
🛡️ Preparation
As always, we began by adding protective covers to the driver’s seat, steering wheel, and footwell to keep everything spotless. The 640d was then moved onto the lift and the wheels removed.
🔧 Front Brake Service
- Stripped the front brakes completely down to the hubs.
- Degreased and cleaned all hardware (calipers, brackets, retaining clips, bolts, etc.).
- Rust on the wheel hubs was removed with a wire wheel and cleaned up.
- Prepped the new pads with anti-squeal spray.
- Cleaned the new discs with brake cleaner.
- Carefully reassembled everything using anti-seize paste where required and medium thread-locker on bolts.
🔍 Full Vehicle Inspection
With the brakes completed, we:
- Removed the undertray.
- Inspected suspension, engine, drivetrain, exhaust, rear brakes, and tyres.
Everything came back clean — exactly what we expected from a low-mileage car that’s been cared for since new 👌.
Reinstalled the undertrays and wheels before lowering the car.
💻 Diagnostics & Final Checks
- Ran diagnostics and generated an initial report with historical fault codes.
- Cleared all codes.
- Generated a final report showing 0 faults ✅.
- Took the car for a short road test to confirm the new brakes were performing perfectly.
