Its not as bad as you think!

On trips to Dbn from Jhb I used to get 9.0 - 9.5 doing about 140kph and the occasional 240kph ... depends on how heavy your foot is really!
budget about 450 - 500km per tank to be safe

Cruise control will get you the best consumption! :praise:

Sorry to go off topic, you still got that maroon 200Gsi?

Nah, sold bru... put it on the gum, got sold within the hour...:=):

Hi All, so I flew up Sat morning to collect my beast and drove her down to the cape, damn what an awesome machine!!!!!! Going from the E92 325 to the E92 335i is 2 totally different cars, cant even compare not just power wise!!!!

Ave consumption was 8.4-8.7 - averaging btwn 120-140kph, car performed flawlessly, didnt skip a beat and the power to overtake is a breeze!!!!!!!!

Filled up in JHB topped up when i got to above half tank, then topped up again in Richmond - drove from there to CPT on 1 tank and still had enough left to drive round

Drove my dads E92 335i to South Coast shelly beach, I am used to always getting there on one tank of fuel in all the cars I have driven there in....Not the 335 lol...I would say the consumption is pretty shit to be honest, at the same time though it is an auto and they do tend to drink compared to the manual.

My 330d when it was auto used to average in town 8.5 - 11/100 depending on how I drove, that reading is pretty inaccurate though as its quite easy to fool it, however I would get roughly 550 - 680km per full tank.

Once I converted it to a manual the reading it gave me was 4.5 - 6.5l/100 in town driving and just under 900km to a full tank and I think I got over 900km to a full tank once. So that just goes to show how much lighter a manual is over the auto.....we are talking old style automatics though, however the older E92 335i still used the older style auto boxes so the consumption is still pretty shit to say the least.

I get 7.5-8l/100 in town with my Auto. 850-900km on a tank in town. Well over 1000 on the open road.
My goodness, a diesel vehicle is a must have especially when one likes travelling like I do. When I compare your figures to my dads E60 I used to use I never saw more than 506km on a full tank and that time I would not hammer it because ai well 160kw did not feel all that fun in a E60. In town driving I would get like 13.3l/100km as for highway travel i did not really pay attention to the figures but from Ruimsig to Witbank I would make it on one tank and have like 1/4 left.

BTW I drove down last Thursday and did 798km on the tank. 634km on the long road and the rest was local running around:chef:

When you are rolling in a turbo charged six pot the least of your concerns should be fuel economy, albeit there are plenty of fuel supply enroute
