BMW e90 Fuel Filter?

Hi all

This might be a really dumb question, but can anyone tell me where the petrol filter is in a BMW e90 (Bmw e90 323i 2006)? And can it be replaced during a routine service? Bmw says its in the fuel tank and the machanic says it underneath the car on the passenger side? This is really confusing to me, whose right?

330d is under the car passenger side,have to remove a panel to get to it,read it in Haynes manual which I bought,just have not got around to doing it yet but will next service

Jack the car up on the passenger side, under the front passenger door there will be a plastic cover remove the cover which either has nuts or screws and you will see the filter. Your could also follow the metal fuel lines under the car and it will lead you to the filter.

My Facelift 325i e90 the filter was in the tank and its pricy that's what they told me
