BMW e90 320i N46T ENGINE

Hi guys
can u assist . my e90 2008 model N46T engine, my tensioner makes a funny noise when the engine is under pressure gears one and two, could it be the pulley or the whole tensioner unit needs replacement.

kindly ADVISE on where I can get the best price in Westerncape for:

a)Clutch kit
b)tensioner full unit

I would advise you to Google the timing chain noise as i have read some where that the Valvetronic motors had a problem with their tensioners giving problems causing the chain to jump a tooth or two with bad results. Some wiser people on the Forum might be able to give you more info.

It's hard to pin point what could be the problem without hearing the noise myself. I do know that the tensioner pulleys make abit of noise as the mileage stax up.

I tested the pulleys on mine by spraying alittle water on them while running. I noticed the noise reduced abit. It returned after a few seconds.
Got the two tensioner pulleys replaced and the noise was gone.

Autoparts Randburg has the pulleys for like R80 each.
