If its auto it will be heavier.

try running 3/4 tank with a bottle of NF cleaner.

Next fill up use a bottle NF boost and monitor from there.

Mine improved.

S/W and DP makes a very big difference as well

i also believe that the wheels make a difference as well, if you comparing your previous car, did you have 18's on there? My consumption went by over 1l/100km on the urban commute after i changed to heavy 19's. On the extra urban it has increased by about 0.3l/100km

my 06 had 17's and my 09 now has 18's now , i would be willing to try that stuff as long as it can't damaged anything:thumbs: .
Ive been wanting to do software on the car i'm just worried that it might effect the reliability of the car and so on .

Is it Auto?
I drive 80km daily, of which only 10-15km max is Urban. With morning peak traffic, I average between 7-8l/100km. Mine is Auto.
I also thought it was high but BMW checked every single thing and half the parts in the car have been replaced already under motorplan so seems normal.

So i also can't wait to do DP and Software as soon as my plan ends.

Could also be the general bits and bobs like when last was it serviced? are the tyre pressure optimal? etc.

I got a 2006 E90 320D, Auto,

Whilst it was on MP, I did complain about the high consumption, they did check and everything seemed in order.

Mine I get between 7 - 8L per 100km city and freeway driving.

When I drive down to kzn, I get between 5.7 and 6.7

It also depends on how heavy your foot is. I also noticed If I drive at 100km per hour, consumption is better.

I feel for you bud  Been in the same boat!

I drive a E90 320D between Four-ways and Rand-burg and back, I avg 9.5 as it stands now. when I climb on the highway(rarely) it drops all the way to 5.2.

I think it is normal because of the bumper to bumper traffic i sit in?

Autos Chow fuel.

When I had the 330d before the manual conversion I was averaging 8 -11 L/100 mixed highway and town driving.
After the conversion to a 6 speed manual I was getting 4.5 - 6.5 l/100 mixed driving.

There is nothing wrong with the car. My Dad recently bought a 2010 320d and he is getting 8.5 - 9l/100 he does like to put his foot down every now and then but it is an auto and from what I have seen after seeing quite a few 320d through friends and family that seems to be the norm.

The magic question to answer is what was your previous 320d? The E46 diesels are both more economical than the E90 counterparts.

I can vouch for that...........before software, DP and tweaked exhaust on 04 320d 6 speed manual = 6.7 - 7.0 L/100km mixed use after the mods it sits 6 - 6.4 L/100km

on the open road whilst stock best was 6.0 L/100km after mods low 5's is achievable

6 is incredibly high for open road and a manual 6 speed. I was getting 3.8 on my 330d at 100kmph cruising speed. 120 around 4.5.

Do Diagnostics on your car. The fuel filter came up on my 320d and after replacing it, the car has steadily come down in consumption now. Sitting at 5.6L combined now.

It could be many things but start off with diagnostics, it's the most cost effective way to start trouble shooting.

I also get 8 - 8.5 L per 100 kms in town. E90 320d Auto with 18's.
This is in heavy traffic (bumper to bumper) for 30kms a day.
If I get onto the highway it drops to 5.5 to 6 L. But I have a heavy foot and every other week or so I get 9.5 - 10 L.

Still its way better than a 323i or 325i.

Granted, my car is also chipped with a throttle interceptor. This actually does make the car more fuel efficient if the right driving style is applied.

The trip computer shows some 1.4 l/100km lower then actual distance travelled on the fuel tank calcualtion.
