Good day Gents and Ladies!!

I have the opportunity to buy a 2003 BMW 330i 6 speed with 120,000 km on the clock, FSH and looks in good nick
The asking price is R95,000.00 , it that a fair price?

I currently have a 320d 2004 model, but my km is at 240,000.00

What is the things to look out for on the 330i?
Will it be a smart trade?
And how are the fuel consumption on these?
I drive with a light right foot most of the time, with 80% highway driving

I really miss the sound of a NA straight six!! must be the best sound in the world, apart from Metallica!

I really like the 320d, and have not given a single problem!
I have no idea if i must do it??

What would you do??
My car is fully paid for, that what makes it even harder!:nonono:

That's a very good price for the mileage IMO and it's a 6 speed which is hard to come by. If it's in good condition buy it. Check with bmw for service history and comments and try to gauge how the car was driven from the service history. Fuel consumption is dependent on how you drive the car.

See my thread here:

If you do go for it change the expansion tank and main belt. My tank cracked at 130k and my belt had hairline cracks at around 126k which I replaced as a preventative measure. At 120k it should've just been serviced or is due for a service shortly.

That's a very fair price if the car is in excellent condition.
And it depends on your needs. The fuel consumption on the 330i can be high compared to the 320d. :dunno:
The 330i :praise:

I like, it has the MTech 1 kit on it. Very nice.
Just get BMW to give you a copy of the CIA report and PM Coisman with the registration number to check previous owner history and possible ,mileage discrepancies on eNATIS.

Very good cars and tough engines! Plus there is so much knowledge and good DIY's to keep these engines in top shape! Economy cannot be compared to the diesel of course, especially when driving around town, but it is really not bad at all! In fact they are decently frugal if driven properly, and I don't mean "driving Miss Daisy", but just making use of the econometer to optimise how you are driving and gear choice etc.

Ya obviously there are a few things you need to check - lower control arm bushings, check for oil leaks, verify FSH, and of course the cooling system is a weak point in e46s so the expansion tank at the very least should be replaced.

If you buy it, change all the fluids immediately as good practice (oil, coolant flush, brake fluid, PS fluid, gearbox fluid).

If you drive mostly highway you can expect 7-9L/100km depending on driving style and conditions.

Good price dude. Plus judging from the front bumper, its the sportspack.
If you get it, it will bring a smile to your face everytime u get in.

Hi

I owned 2000 330i 5 speed which I trade in at BMW for R 70000 in 2009. I loved that car more than any BMW I have owned before or since so I say go for it. I never experience any problems with the car over 9 years.

I going to say no. The one half of me off course. Selling a paid off car that gives not troubles WILL haunt you forever. Ask me.

You will MISS the consumption of the diesel vs the 330i, although the pull of the 330 will calm you a bit on that point...that is until you have to go fill up again.
