Hi guys, new to the forum.
I have a 2002 E46 330i, I replaced the brakes all around and its been squeaking ever since I've fitted them.
Its ATE pads.

Anyone else experience this? Is it the pads or could it be the discs?

Welcome

If you go to midas you can ask them for their copper spary for squeaking
Maybe its just the new brakes needs to get worked in, but the copper spray should take the noise away

I have that problem in summer when the brakes get hot. The easiest solution is to take out the pads and apply some copper grease to the back of them, this prevents the squeaking in most cases.

Edit: Some of the manufacturers also recommend bedding in new pads to get the first layer or rubbish off the pads.

+1

You also get a anti squeak paste that goes on the back of the pads when fitting.

Try using Copper slip and check the rattle plates if they are in the correct position .

Thanks for all the replies guys, they have been on for a few months now as I thought the noise would go away as they get worn in.

Think its best if i try the copper spray then!

Thanks for the info - will definitely grab some when I replace my pads. The grease is quite a pain to work with and spread evenly, but does a great job.

You may just need to bed them in properly - go fast on an open road, then hit the brakes real HARD - that should remove any surface glaze. Be real careful with the copper slip

Whats the condition of the discs? the old pads could've scorched the discs, thus creating a pattern in the disc that matched the old pads. The new pads will now have a perfectly flat surface against a possible ridged discs thus allowing for gap which also causes brake squeal.

Yup, mine squeal like mad, just fitted Ferodo pads all round, put Copperslip on too, still squeal....was thinking of getting ATE, but it seems others have issues with those too.......gonna try the 'hard braking' trick......

Because just by chance a fuse might blow causing the abs to fail. So he'll lock up and slide straight into a lightpost causing it to pop..........

I use BMW discs and pads and have never had the squealing problem and I don't even use copper slip. :dropjaw:
