Still of topic: Manual vs sequential manual vs Auto is a very different comparison. We aren't talking about manual boxes vs slush boxes. We are talking about overall cars here. Yeah....a DCT/SMG box shifts faster than any human could and thats a given, but the flip side to the coin is that it isn't as involving and 'purist' as a manual box is. To each his own! Now to say, an e90 Auto can shifter faster.... eh, I kinda find that hard to believe. Take both cars to a track with a mixture fast bends and do a test. My notion is that the manual will outshine the Auto, and Im sure many will share the same sentiments with me on this one.
Look at the upcoming F10 M5... BMW know that there are purists out there thus they are also testing manual gearboxes on their prototypes. Seems like the manual gearbox will never really die after all.
