BMW e39 525iM Touring

Good Day All

I am new to posting threads on the Fanatics forum, i previously owned a few BMW's but didn't post or update. i have used the forum previously (very helpful technical details) but haven't been very active in terms of posting or replying. I am hoping that will change.

I recently acquired a 2003 e39 525iM Touring, the vehicle was in cape town and i actually bought it blind (there's a crazy story behind it).

The car was originally bought in Nelspruit from the then SJW Motors, and has since made a full circle to Cape Town and back to Nelspruit.

The Car has been in one family since new. it has a few minor issues (usually associated with an e39 and some), but overall I am really pleased with the condition

:smilebounce:

It is in pretty good condition, I am fortunate to have found it. the drive is absolutely superb, the suspension feels great, there's no squeaks or rattles, and compared to the previous e39 525i touring i had, this one is like new. the interior is in fantastic condition. the spare wheel has never been used, original from the factory. All the tools are in place and original. i need to take out more pics, which i will upload.

"crazy story" indeed. i found the car online on gumtree at 4 am on a Sunday morning (i couldn't sleep). so i decided to contact the owner, as i couldn't believe my eyes. He sounded quite convincing at the outset, that he was the owner of the vehicle etc. when i asked him questions about the car, some of them he was able to answer and some he wasnt, which raised "red flags" for me. Eventually he said that i need to pay for the car if i wanted it and he will keep it for me. When i asked for the registration certificate, he wasnt able to provide it to me, which then made me "do a handbrake turn", all this while, emotions were running high and i wanted to secure the vehicle. my skeptical instinct kicked in and i didnt pay. On the Monday i headed down to the traffic department and did a few inquiries, lo and behold, this chap was not the owner of the car. i had managed to get the details of the registered owner and was able to contact her. She was in utter shock and bewildered at what i had told her about this chap and the "story" he had told me. He wanted to sell me a car that wasn't in his name and he actually signed an agreement. I did further investigations and found out that this guy was involved in some insurance scam. Anyways after all that, i asked the lady if she would sell me the vehicle and after a week of discussions and negotiations i was able to secure the car from it's rightful owner. she gave me guarantees about the vehicle and i didn't see it at all. True to her word it was all i expected and more!!!

JUST under 90 000km for a 2003 model
WOW WOW WOW WOW

the condition of the vehicle in the other photos and those low KM, I would "predict" that there is a good 100 000 to 150 000 km worth of trouble free enjoyment there

jealous !!

Exactly!!! i love them too and there's just something special about an e39 m-sport touring...

you can imagine how i was feeling when the cookie crumbled in the way it did!!!

i need to give her a good clean, the lady who previously owned it had dogs, so the roof lining has a bit of dog hair on it ...

Definitely More pics to follow... :smilebounce:

:ty: i doubt i will put that kind of mileage on it. for the moment it's tucked away for special occasions, i love the way the car looks and the stance. i will drive it once in a while, but definitely not as a regular driver.

You will say that now. I also try and do the same.

I sometimes go to my garage to admire my car and before you know it, i am in it going for a drive :tiptoe:

The joys:smilebounce:
