No sure how that applies. The actual bump is permanently on it doesn't flash... You'd run both as low beams with the shutter open as the high beams... that's what I wouldn't do anyway.zippy320 said:I read that the reason BMW did not use xenon headlamps bulbs on the E46 was because rapidly switching on and off "Flashing" the high beams , can cause damage to the xenon bulb and ballast as the bulb needs a few minutes to heat up to the correct temp ,Flashing may causes a shorter life of the bulb and in some cases the bulb explodes .
How did you do the bi-xenon conversion on your dipped beams? Did you have to fit one of those things with a shutter in it?
I stripped a Toyota fortuner headlight for it hehe.....danieljames said:Where'd u get the xenon kit?

I'm with you. Sorry misunderstood him.zippy320 said:On my E46 with factory xenons , the driving lights are Xenon and the high beams are Halogen . When the high beams are activated , a shutter moves on the low beams opening up? the beam to a wider area .
When the lights are off and I "Flash" my high beams , my car does not "Flash" the xenon low beams , it will only flash the halogen high beam alone because if it did flash the xenon low beam , as per BMW reasoning , this would damage the bulb. When the lights are on and I flash the high beam , Im not sure if the low beam shutter opens up and flashes with the high beam halogen .
From my understanding of his post , he wants to put in a Xenon bulb or Bi xenon as his High beam , and he has a Bixenon unit as his low beam . Which would mean he wont be able to flash his lights when his lights are off? Because that would mean the Xenon high beam would have to flash and this would damage it?
Correct me of im wrong , trying to understand![]()
