Hey Guys
As well love our Beemers I'd love to know if there is anyone whom have fitted or bought this aftermarket Navigation radios for Bmw's either from Soundlouder.Co.za or Stopshop.Co.za. if so are how's the experience on using the radios both with Android or Windows CE.6. Also what maps software is best working for you.
I'd be glad to hear from those who have installed one to thier machines.....

Also interested in an android unit. I have used the older windows units (in another car) and while it is OK I think android will be miles better.

Sweet to hear you had one already ....As for Android my issue is obvious being DATA to run maps etc thou its nice as one can download other maps other than Google Maps.
But how's the Windows CE 6 on your car in terms of Maps and functionality in general and most importantly where did you bought your unit?:coolShake:

I got a WinCE one from SoundLouder with iGo8 maps and it's brilliant. Works a charm and the Nav is very good indeed. Very happy with it and it's features are pretty cool. Only issue is the Bluetooth mic which makes it hard for people to hear me when on the phone. Otherwise it's a great little unit.

Glad to hear that Bugger hope you also had a good service buying from Soundlouder...Just curious thou beside the IGOmaps can you download any other maps software like Waze on your unit?
With the Mic issue cant you use the external mic that you can atleast put over the windscreen piller?

The unit I used was much older but also used the win ce system and igo maps. While everything worked, the interface was clunky and the music selection folder was just that, a folder. No coverart or visualisations etc just the static screen. Igo is great tho.

That's the main reason for wanting to try an android unit now, I think it will have much more options in terms of apps. Could even run the torque app which would be cool.

The best android unit is the AVIN Avante 2. It has a nice custom launcher that works well for vehicles.

The dynavin n6 has become quite a polished product which does all the basics very well..

Have you tried using the external mic?? I bet it will be great as that's what I'm planning to do since I once used on a standard standard Bluetooth radio.

Glad to hear that but this products you just mentioned at how mentioned at howmuch price are we talking off here.
I once tried to check the Dynavin N6 through their website and I sent them an enquiry form regarding the price and stick availability I never head from them.
Please let me know of the price on both products you just mentioned and where to find them.

That really scares me a bit cause you not the only person I heard saying that. I think you right of trying the Android system and using ur fone as a "Hotshot" to utilise your maps etc I think it could be beneficial as that's the ides I have. But I need to find more if it's a good idea if not I'll buy those using IGO maps.

StopShop sells units based on the S100 platform which is Windows CE and S150 which is Android BUT the S100 platform can also run Android. I had one based on the S100 platform in my Touareg running Android (they all come from the same place, built on the same hardware, just have different face plates and connectors).

* Booting the unit takes a bit longer than I liked
* Had some sound issues owing to the interface with the amp
* SD-Card slots are very easy to miss, resulting in the card disappearing into the unit
* Touch screen response was ok...just ok
* Steering wheel controls only worked for volume
* Because of the odd screen resolution some apps don't work as they should
* The built-in audio player is not great, but you can download different ones
* Bluetooth audio streaming was ok
* Bluetooth handsfree worked like a charm

That's some scary info there as my next possible shops to buy was StopShop.co.za or Soundlouder.co.za

I had also spoken to guys at Planetworld.co.za as they promised to start selling this makes of Navigation Radio for BMW's as well as Caska....

From the point highlighted im gna be honest its scares me now to spend such money on something that it cant be guaranteed to work smoothly especially since there aint any after support once one has bought this units.

I have to say that the unit I have is actually very good. The navigation system is awesome, and love the trip computer functionality.

The Bluetooth mic is a bit too far away, which lends to bad voice reception on the other side of my line, but Bluetooth audio streaming is fantastic. The interface for the SD cards is good, it just doesn't keep it's default random playlist setting, which is a slight annoyance but not the end of the world. All in all it's a nice piece of kit and has a lot more functionality than a standard BMW navigation system. I've tested the USB functionality with movies and it works brilliantly. So I am very chuffed.

Thanks cousin for your kind Reply....what a confusion so many people even myself have looked in Hello Peter and saw couple of complaints form StopShop.
Anyway is your cousin radio Windows or Android and is it using internal mic or External one?
