BMW announces recall of the 1 series M coupe

BMW AG have today announed a world wide recall on all 1 series M coupe models manufactured since 2011. All owners of 1M's will have to take their cars for a factory "detune" which will reduce the available power by 50kw and 100n/m. This will also reportedly include a ref limit of 5000rpm.

A spokesperson from BMW SA reported said the main reason was "to give the poor Golf R owners a fair chance". This follows the release of a video clip on Youtube that went viral last week reportedly showing a white 1M in South Africa that demolished a blue Golf R.
