Not that knowledgeable on these cars and I reckon the 525i was a bit under-powered, but looks like it's in fair condition...

I cut my BMW teeth working on one of those. I wouldn't say it was underpowered- just geared rather lazily. And of course, that engine is fantastically strong. Good car for a turbo project. Also, the 525i handles better than the V8, and is livelier than the 535i.

I have one, wonderfully smooth & free revving, but low on bottom end torgue though.

Yep, I think the price is a bit high for the mileage and age etc.

Nick, yours is the dog's balls, mate :thumb: Suprised you prefer the pre-facelift mirrors, nothing wrong with them, just feel the later one's have that more modern "edge". This car does look clean, but also feel the price is about 10k too high. Also, not so mad about the colour coding, I feel they look better with the black acsents. What scares me more is the seller mentions it has a custom dark blue interior. Wonder what that looks like :mmm:

The M20 was a terrible thing. Good in an E30, but not quite up to powering an E34.

I agree with Budleigh, the E34 525i (m50) is a great car to drive, more than enough power for daily driving. My E34 525i manual responses well and cruises just as well – travels close to the speeds I get in the E34 540i.:thumbsup: Moms E34 535i feels lazy, and is only 10km/h “faster’ – but I don’t push it because I don’t it – ABS packed up on me and we nearly ended up in the field :shocked:

But the E34 540i well that is different animal, just wants you to go faster but can also just putter around. :thumb:
