Good Day everyone
My families 525i E60 has this very erratic idle and also at low speeds.

The story:
When we just bought the car when it was still fresh and new, it already did this but long and far between, whenever we had it checked under motorplan they just plugged it into the computer and told us there's no problem. We proceeded to take this to 3 different dealers and all refused to say there was any problems at all. As everytime we took it in it was running normal.
fast forward to present day it is doing this very often (almost always now) we did get a chance to take it in to BMW while it was being erratic and vibrating very badly at idle. The BMW dealer now proceeds to tell us that it MAYBE the VANOS and quoted me somewhere in the region of 60k to replace it, now the cars value is not even that high anymore, and we do not want to just fork out 60k on a MAYBE type of diagnoses.
I am awaiting for a ignition coil to test on the car myself, the spark plugs have all been changed recently.
If anyone has the same problem or know of this type of problem please help, the car is very uncomfortable to drive and I would like to fix the car once and for all.
