BMW 330D lci exhaust

Hi guys , i was wondering if you could give me an idea on how many boxes to add to my new exhaust i had installed 2 days ago on my 330d , initially decided to go with no boxes which was a very bad idea, 63mm downpipe and straight exhaust all the way to the back!:flyfun: . Not a great idea for my likings , would one box at the back dampen the sound enough? Thanks (Did my exhaust at powerflow)

Put as big a backbox as you can fit on the rear. If it's still too loud put a smaller on in the middle. Well that's what I would do.

Will I be right by saying that you dont have any back pressure, and you can now here every bit of the turbo spool. That sound could get annoying after a short while. I would go for a rear box, just to tone it done.

Yes i think thats a good idea , but the turbo spooling noise is alright , the fact that at low rpm it sounds like a chev ls1 v8 isnt cool. Im gonna go back to powerflow on tuesday and try the big backbox just before the tips , i hope that will work :praise:

Hi.

I removed the all the silencers bar the one behind the rear wheels , got straight pipes oh and a 76mm downpipe with no cats anywhere.

there is a slight "boom" in 5th (got a GM steptronic box) but its liveable , turn on the radio and all is ok.

my 2 year old hardly notices the noise and goes to sleep :)

You can use your original backbox but you've probably gone with thicker pipe so I'm not sure how that will translate going into smaller piping of the backbox. It might be better to get an aftermarket backbox. But I'm no exhaust expert

Bud - i did the exact same like yours and also got irritated after a while of it being too loud. So I asked them to put a billet/bullet box just after the rear axel and ran a single pipe to each outlet (double tails).

Sounded EPIC, had a mad bark on start up and sounded much better. Had a growl and sounded mad WOT!
