Looks decent enough in the pics but the selling price should serve as warning.

There is no such thing as a bargain, a well maintained car that is in good condition will never be undersold i.e the owner will know the value of his car.

On the flip side you will get chancers selling a car in poor condition for a high price, in the hope of catching an unsuspecting buyer.

But imo for the most, if a car is selling cheaper than it should - there are reasons for it - buyer beware.

P.S Skiet, for future reference an M-Sport model, should be fitted with the M-Sport bumpers, seats and wheels. Another point to add to your list, this is not a M-Sport/Individual model.

Thanks, yes dunno how I missed it :thumbdo: lets say I was over excited

I would've been inclined to give Mr Jan a slap, at the very least a tongue lashing for wasting my time.

Ok, dunno why I assumed the lighter yellow was canary yellow.

Recall hearing of a dakar yellow 2, is this an option for the lighter shade?

Dakar yellow 1 - no clear coat
Dakar yellow 2 - has a clear coat

^ something to this effect, from my research.

The yellow, and i think the one without the clear coat fades easily. Probably thats where you saw the lighter colour....

Skiet,

Ask Gizmo of the 2 cars we went to see when looking for an E36 for myself.

The one was advertised on the forum as immaculate, etc. Well, it was clean and taken care off but needed R30 000 put into it.

Then the total abortion we saw, yoh! Guy advertises it as "Immaculate, only TLC needed is on the drivers seat". When we got there, Power Steering, Aircon, windows all not working. The PS and Aircon pump was not even present.

Thankfully, i found the car i was looking for on Autotrader!

Cool, always learn something new.:coolShake:

Was Dakar yellow the only yellow available on the e36?

I've always felt the coupe M3 in Dakar yellow was a bit darker than the yellow on the later Individual spec sedans? Dunno if the fading had something to do with it...

Fading possibly.. Also, I think the yellow is not easy to produce consistently.... Maybe what you saw was seasonal colour change at the factory, over time the availability of the colour from the supplier changed? German paint vs SA paint...
Who knows....

Even today, not many shops can produce Dakar yellow to the T!
I know of a car resprayed 3 times (from a reputable place) to get the colour right...

Those high profile tyres was probably a clue that the owner did not exactly have a lot of money to spend on the car's upkeep.

What price were they advertised for?
If you don't mind sharing, what did you pay for yours and much do you expect to pay for all the repairs?

Thanks Arbee,

It seems more and more you get what you pay for hey.

I'll keep looking and take my time, as I am really keen on only the 328i e36 but well kept ones are becoming scarce quickly :thumbdo:
