BMW 328i - Idling problems

So today, I was out going to a client and miss my turn off. I took another road where I went over a speedbump which I didn't saw due to no lines etc. Now, my car doesn't want to idle. As soon as I start the car, then the engine dies.

Now before this my exhaust didn't sound good, it sounded that my car was drowning when I didn't step on the clutch nor the gas pedal. Could this be the problem? Could my exhaust be the one that needs to be replaced or something?

Well, a leaky exhaust you will hear, it will be a serious issue.

This could be a multitude of things ranging from injectors to coil packs to fuel pumps, could be a sensor, MAF, but the one that I will start with is your Idle Control Valve (ICV).

These get garbled up with junk, and then dont move freely. I did the ICV on the 540 on saturday, and it made one hell of a differance. Took me 5 minutes to strip it out, another 5 minutes to clean with carb cleaner, and like 1 minute to put it back... cost me R25.00 for the carb cleaner.

If its not that, and you say its just at idle, I would say next bet is MAF.

Sounds similar to what I had on the 540 the other day. Turned out to be an air leak.

well yesterday I was on my way home from work, the car still had problems idling and I just decided to drive and don't worry... at the 3 robot I stop, I step on my clutch and next moment the car was back to normal. I was stunned. Not sure what happened exactly but apparently it was a loose connection somewhere. Going to search for that wire this weekend
