I got a BMW 328i 1998 sedan, and I am still driving it daily from pta to sandton. And the car is still in a good shape. My car now has got 277 000 KM. These cars are good cars, but R64 000 is a bit too much. Rather asked for 48 000 maybe?

The convertible will be a bit more, but then again on the long run you have some extra stuff that can break. I'd also go for the R50k bracket, though the seller may have a valid point if the car is REALLY spotless and maybe have some extras.

Where are you located?

In Cape Town these cars are still being sold for around R80k depending on mileage and condition obviously.

Also, the fact that it is a convertable also warrants the price. If the car is in good nick with regular services, it should serve him well for some time still. I know they have problems with the roof mechanisms which could be costly to repair but otherwise, these are nice cars.

imo this is a reasonable price - in CT. The JHB market is somehow alot cheaper:mmm:

well i'm located in Cape Town. . . so that is why i'm asking because i have seen some fetch around R80 000. . . .but to me i think that it is kinda high Km. . . .but i think i must try and see if i cant go have a look at the car. . . .but i'm also getting a feeling on asking around in the R50k bracket. . . .all depending on the condition. . .

Thanks alot so far guys

Personally I don't think you will pick up a clean, well kept 328 cab for under 65k.

+1, then again condition is in the eye of the beholder...

That is SOOOO true! I have looked at "showroom" condition cars, that where crap in my mind. Yet the owner cant understand why I find so many things wrong with the car. :slap:

Like walking into Aston Martins show room and being pissed off at all the swirls on the paint and brake dust in the calipers....:shocked::shocked::shocked:

Auto Atlantic had a (newish) secondhand E65 on their floor for somewhere in the early R600k. Swirls and chips on the front bumper made me wonder who does their detailing and if I were to spend R600k on a car do
I want THAT?

Well exactly... Instead of just enjoying the car and being in the presence of a fantastic car I tend to find all the wrong things...

Dents, scratches etc...

I have such an eye for detail.. For example (This really p*ssed my dad off):

Before the Porsche went for a service the front rims used to get caked in brake dust very very quickly. Like one drive and its black. The back rims never had this issue...

Since the service I noticed that the left back rim is now similar to the front rims yet the back right isnt... Its stupid things like this that I will pick up on... Sounds so stupid but I see it.

Thats why I cannot appreciate any of the Lambo's at Bloomsbury because they are all swirled and look like hell.

Mike

Hence why this weekend I am detailing a old Toyota Camry which is starting to suffer from Clear coat failure.... :mmm:
