Hi guys, i'm new this page, and i would like to ask a few questions?

I bought a 2007 323i E90 about a year ago, since then i had a few problems

The head light globes are breaking all the time, and now i have a problem the power steering, My steering rack broke and buggered up the pump as well?

Is the car a problem car or am i the unlucky one???

Thanx for a great page and looking foward to your reply.

I'm leaning towards one of the unlucky ones.

However all cars have their own issues.

once you sort out these small issues, the car will be fine, it's just coincidence that you had an overthrow on a fault in the same area...

look after the car... it'll look after you...

It could be bad luck as far as the steering goes, or it could be a common thing. All I know is that the E46 had some power steering pump issues. Ask me and my wallet about that. The new pump was completely different. At least it only happened once, unlike the cooling system thing that keeps happening to me.

My cars do go through quite a few bulbs. I blame the computer that tests them every time the car is switched on, thereby creating a self fulfilling prophecy.

Have you tried a different brand of light bulb?

Hi,

I have changed the bulbs about three times already, and different ones, but no luck there, HELL THEY ARE EXPENSIVE..

Look for the driving pleasure of the BMW, there's no way i will ever buy another make of car. There's just nothing coming near it.
it's just these small stuff that is hard on the wallet...

As Spiro said, Look after it and it will look after me..

Thank you guys, i appreciate all your help.

is there a possibility that theres water or moisture build up on the headlights .. i kn0w the SO's vivo would pop brake light globes every few months because the seal to the body was a bit worn.. allowed water through to the circuit .. and pop ..

if its constantly blowing globes, theres definitely something over powering them or shorting them ..

Hi guys,

I also have another problem that emerged a week or two back, at least the steering is sorted now.

1.) There's a humming sound coming from the motor, When i hit the gas it gets louder and when i press the clutch the sound goes not really away but a lot softer, that tells me that the sound does not come from the transmission or clutch, What could it be?

2.) I was on my way home and the automatic stability control warning light came on. The tyre pressure light as well as the dynamic brake control light came on. i understand that all of these functions work together but i can't switch it off, It still comes on when i start the car. What must i do and where can i find a problem.

Sorry for all the stupid questions, but will take the stupidity now before paying a lot of money for repairs.

Regards

Okay

Problem 1 could be your diff.

For problem two i'm not to sure, you should get a diagnostic done.

If all sorts of weird things light up for no apparent reason, it could be a flat battery. There was a thread about an M6 doing it about a week ago.

This could also be the problem with the light issue you have.

Hi Kaptein

I also have an E90 323i LCI, mine is Auto and on 132 000km now, I've heard if you've recently done the wheel alignment something like this might happen, as most places don't really know how to treat the wheel alignment of these cars, especially the M-sport models.

Otherwise my car is fine, touch wood, yours should be sorted soon...

Hi Kaptein,

I have a E90 330i 2005 model and also giving my uphill at the moment, replace power steering pump, replaced both angel eyes, replacing the water pump and thermostat this coming weekend (car sounds like a F15 cleared for take off). And I only have the car for 9 months

I know how you feel and that the car is giving issues BUT from experience, this is my 3rd BMW  is that you only replace them once and they last for years.

The headlight globe, also had that issue and found that when I bought the parts from say midas the part will last like 2 weeks and then when I bought it from BMW it will last, but there is advertisers on this forum that also sells the globes for much cheaper then BMW and parts is reliable, just check under advertisers section on forum. The headlight globes is also sensitive to the touch and when connecting ensure that the boot is sealing properly as if there is any condensation in the headlight area the bulb will go premature.

That stability light coming on with traction control and brake light, mine was on for about 3 months :blueCry: and then I found on the internet 0.02c fix for the steering problem, you have a disc that gets contaminated inside the steering wheel column and it creates the problem. But as they said, first check your alignment and then google the e90 steering 0.02c fix. Was easy and simple, 1 hr diy and saved me like R8k. But best you get someone with a diagnostic tool and check the car before doing anything. Might also be a ABS sensor on one wheel that is causing this. Check the error codes and then we can help you figure them out. It's either steering related, wheel related or abs sensor related but the code will help here.

And don't give up, I also feel :blueCry: because I am looking at a R10k fix for a stupid waterpump and thermostat due to bmw's stupid engineer's idea to make it electric.

We will help where we can. If you car vin says you are before 2007/05 then I might be able to help with diagnostic if you are Pretoria based.

Hi guys.

Sorted, Once i did the wheel alignment the stability control sorted itself out.

Everything is running smoothly again except for that humming sound. I'll take it to someone to see if it is in the diff or in the motor.

Thank you
