I think that that thread should be deleted - its not in the spirit of togetherness that this forum tries so hard to promote.

Maybe check who started the thread, and what they drive. ;)

Anyway, maxing out at 140km/h is not right.

Definitely take it to a place to get it checked out.

Started by a moderator. I never took notice of that until now. That's really something.:clapper:

The 320i consolation thread is a joke, was meant as a joke, and is used as a joke by many people. If you get offended by it, stay out of it. If you feel we're a close knit family but cannot make jokes, then you have the wrong meaning of "close-knit" in your mind.

That 320i thread ridicules owners of 320i BMW's.

And the OP of that thread drives exactly that. Would he ridicule himself if not in jest?

I have an E90 320i with 192K on the odo and have no issue going up hills in 6th at 120

also have just a little trouble taking it to higher speeds (Normal on these sluggish cars)

You should get it checked out, your one definitely doesn't sound normal

My valvetronic went and the car dropped into limp mode.

I had a light on the dash tho.

I know E90 320i is not the fastest of cars around but it should reach 160/180K/ph easily that much i know. Perhaps something is not right with the car...

I would recommend you drive another 320i that is similar to yours and feel if there is a performance difference.
It could be possible that you're quite used to the low range torque of your previous Golf.

If you do find a difference in performance when you compare to another 320i, then you can assume something is gone bad.

If the car doesn't go faster than 140, there is something wrong. Have it check out, but it will never be as nippy as the golf was

Codes will only show in your instrument cluster when it is serious, there are hidden codes that you will only pickup on diagnostics. So OP please get someone to read your car and see what is going on.

I'm with the guys here, even a 320i shouldnt be struggling to reach higher than 140km/h.

my wife has a 120i
same engine as the E90 i assume, similar years.

it wasnt anything really special, but had a lot of extras and is a really quality car.

but after 3 years of ownership it got worse, even with regular maintenance.

eventually it wouldnt go up the hill near our house, you had to shift all the way to 1st.
6th gear was only for show on the highway, never could use it.

ill post what we did..... needless to say it feels like another car... i can get up the same hill now in 5th with very little effort.
