BMW 320d lci electrical issues

Hi all

I'm new to the forum but have made use of the threads on many occasions and was hoping to get some assistance on something I haven't been able to get much info on.

I purchased a 2011 bmw e90 320d lci last year and the car has been a pleasure apart from this issue.

When I bought the car I drove it for about 2 weeks and then took it back to the dealer as there was an issue with the indicators not working. I was told the issue was the FRM module which from my reading was correct. When I got the car back all seemed to be fine but a couple weeks later there were more issues.

1. The single click on the indicator does not work for lane changes.
2. When locking the car the indicators do not flash nor does the small light on the rear view mirror.
3. The vehicle sometimes does not start and gives all the error codes. After trying to start 5-6 times the car starts but all the war ingredients lights stay on and the speedo and rev counter do not work.
4. Seat bolsters do not work anymore.

I have a suspicion it may well be the FRM but anyone's opinion or suggestions would be highly appreciated.

Still very new to BMW but what I've got on BMW from the interwebs the turn signals can be done with the dash menu and locking lights needs to be coded with a app like Carly.

Hey guys thanks so much for the help, I'll definitely hit gert a message.

The battery is about a year old, had that tested first had a reading of 12.0, I'm pretty sure it's the FRM.

Thanks again for the advice guys it's much appreciated

My biggest concern is the car occasionally not starting, with the Xmas lights on the dash. That’s not FRM but junction box. These have a way of being intermittent as well, usually sorted by a battery reset. Hard to guess without diagnostics being done.

I generally don’t work on the cars myself anymore, but if you give me some idea where you are based I can recommend someone to have a look in order to shine more light on the issue.

Hey Gert thanks for the response. I managed to do a battery reset last night with the help of my neighbour and this morning The issue with the car not starting seems to be resolved and no more warning lights on the dash. So hopefully that has sorted that issue out however the other issues are still there and also noticed the alarm itself does not work at all but central locking is 100%.

I'm currently based in randburg

Good stuff. It might be that the FRM still has an issue in that it wasn’t initially repaired properly.
