Firstly I was out of office and home for 3 months, just glad to be back.

I suddenly hear a rattling/vibrating sound when I just touch the clutch, when in neutral and when driving in city traffic. The sound goes away when clutch is pressed half too fully down to the floor and after taking of you foot.

My friend told me that it is the Flywheel that needs to be replaced and that it is also good to replace the complete clutch (Kit) due to the high labour cost. Well he added that the clutch can also fail rather soon, and then I have to pay double in labour fees. The car had 180 000km when I bought it during Dec 13 and is now at 203 400km.

I have phone Goldwagen and they can give me LUK parts at following prices:

Complete Clutch kit at R4521, BMW agent’s price R5542.
Flywheel at R3576, BMW agent’s price R15144.
Clutch Adj pin at 51, BMW agent’s price R22.
Labour charge by private mechanic at R2500, in both cases.

Total: R10 648, BMW agent’s price R23 208

Where can I get the best price for parts and what brand should I use?
Any inputs and suggestions will be appreciated.

LUK Clutch and Flywheel. I purchased mine from Goldwagen and they were identical to what was already in my E46. It is quite labour intensive especially if you don't have a tranny jack and tools to remove the flywheel.
