BMW 320d Battery

Hi All,

I need to buy a new battery for my LCI 2011, e90, 320d auto.

Is their anything that I need to lookout for or consider when replacing the battery?

I know for other cars that you shouldnt put a bigger or smaller battery than what the car came with as that can cause a whole bunch of issues for your alternator and even the electronics.. this happened with my dads audi a4 many years ago as he put in a slightly bigger battery...

Im sure someone will tell you on the forum if there is something else i missed..

You can use any kind of battery, as long as you use an AGM type one.

But the most important thing is to register the battery in a BMW dealer, so as the car electronic system knows its specifications (Ah and Cold Start A).

I changed my E90 320d '08 one, 6 months ago, with a non OEM battery, but with an EXIDE one (this brand and BANNER are the most common used in Germany, as replacement batteries for BMW cars like mine, if not OEM one is going to be used).

I bought it from Internet, it was the Exide EK950 (95Ah - 850A) one and costed 185€.

Registration took place in the official BMW dealer, costed 25€. I would not suggest that you do the registration by yourself.
