Hi, does anyone have experience with oil in their expansion tank?
The car is a 2002 bmw 318i f/l.(auto) N42 motor.
I've read that the oil cooler tends to leak, can anyone advise on this.

Car is running great, no abnormal temp or coolant in sump.

Switch the engine off and do not drive the car.

Get the cooler sorted out as it has failed and flush the gearbox oil out as well as the filter.
If you continue to drive it the box will faill if it has not already been damaged

Thanks for the info, update so far:
i replaced the filter housing oil cooler.had the car sent for a compression test and all was good. Also had a chemical test done for CO in expansion tank, and that was fine too.
Flushed coolant, but the oil is still there.:hammerhead:
Its also confirmed to be engine oil.
Im using Castrol Edge 5w-30. Strange thing is, this all started after the oil change.
Any Ideas?
Maybe start of head bad head gasket?
