BMW 318 F/L Problems

Hi

We bought a 2005 318 for my mom about 3 months ago. The car is in good condition with about 71 000km on the clock.

I have noticed the following since ownership :

1: The car is very noisy when it idles after a drive. Almost sounds like a diesel. What can cause this??

2. The clutch started to shudder about a month ago, How reliable is the clutch on the bmw's?

3. It sounds as if if the manifold gasket is gone, as there is definitely a blowing sound if you prod the petrol.

I am taking it to BMW tomorrow to attend to all these issues as the car was serviced 1500km ago and it is still under motorplan.

Please give me your inputs.

Regards

If it is still under motorplan throw as much problems as you can to BMW, the more they replace the better for you :)

I am not to sure about the F/L but the non-F/L 318 has a tendency to sound a bit like a diesel.

Keep up us updated to what BMW found.

The other points I do not have an answer for but my clutch on my 2004 E46 F/L started shuddering when it was hot at about 85000km. Motorplan replaced the dual mass fly wheel and clutch. Now no problems.

Make the suckers pay for everything before it runs out. Complain about EVERYTHING ....

Good luck.

Jip Time for a dualmass flywheel. just remember when they put in the new one be gentle on the clutch for the first 750km to bed it in or you may cause it to shudder again later on. Agents the clutch+flywheel+release bearing cost nearly 16k and at midas also for the oem kit the same thing 5k. You lucky its under motorplan. Noisy like a diese its usually hydrulic valve lifters they replaced my friend lifters under motorplan.(this is due to extended oil service intervils and slude buildup, thats why I service my cars halfway in between and no problems)

Spot on ... I have a print out of all the items changed on my vehicle and the value of the clutch/flywheel was R13 176.14 for the kit.
