Anyone have an idea of the cost and power output for installing OEM performance upgrades? And from experience, is it worth it?

Hay man

For a OME power upgrade for your 135I you looking at about R25000 to R30000. you push out 240KW and 450NM at the fly wheel. I got the price from a bmw dealer. Its soft wear and hard wear. Check out this webpage.

I would rather wait for the motorplan to finish and then do so much more for that price and get more power out of the car. Hope this helps.

Thanks everyone for the responses.

@AM Salie: Only reason I'm entertaining the idea is because I still want the motorplan, don't want to save 20k on the performance upgrade only to have to pay ridiculous amounts for maintenance/services out of motorplan. I know with software there is a possibility of not picking it up, but I can't chance it.

Going the OEM route is a good option on the x35. The harware alone is worth the upgrade. Sure its expensive but once you out of MP you can build on the hardware and s/w you wont lose out anything.

I am running the bmw performance suspension....its totally worth it despite the fact that i wanted the car even more lower but it gives very good handling.

The performance exhaust is also worthwhile from my own experience. Its expensive but worth it.

Chatted with Bilal04 through pm :)thumbs:) and I agree regarding the hardware, I like that the power increase comes with improved hardware. 26k though is a lot of moola and I can use it to pay off the car quicker, so will hold out for a bit.

Performance suspension is interesting, does the car feel more stable? Does it significantly impact ride quality?

On the exhaust side, I have an AC Schnitzer exhaust system, is that the same as the performance exhaust on the website? I love the start up sound. :joy:

1. If you have the AC exhaust then you fine. The bmw performance exhaust only flows 25% more than stock. The AC is a complete aftermarket exhaust mufflers with even less back pressure. After MP consider catless downpipes or even going completely catless.

2. The Bmw suspension comes with stiffer sport springs (yellow) and stiffer dampers. The ride is definitely harder and the car is lowered only 10mm which you can hardly distinguish from the stock sport height. But the handling has improved with less vagueness at speeds and cornering. But the harder ride may put you off especially running 19' wheels. The suspension does settle and becomes more compliant after many miles.

Sweet, didn't know that about the AC system.

Jah, the ride currently is quite hard on 19's, don't think I can handle it being stiffer. Thanks for the info.
