BMW 135 Rim & Tyre issues

I am quite down.. On 01-07-2015 I purchased new rims for and tyres my newly acquired 135 from minty's. They advised me to get:

Michelin Pilot Sport 2 225x40x18
Michelin Pilot Sport 2 255x35x18
M4 Styled Rims

However, it had massive body rub when going over bumps. I went back and they refused to refund me but offered to shave off 5mm off the rim to stop the rubbing.

However, it still catches specially under full load ( 4 passangers )

If someone can please advise me what to do. Otherwise it looks like R19,995 I spent on this is wasted. I would be willing to sell them at a bit of a knock and get new tyres on my standard rims.

well the tyre size is completely incorrect ... and the Michelin have a slightly higher profile compared to a bridgestone ...

check on the inner of the wheels.. 18x_j the number before the j with give u the width .. which is probably a 8.5 front and 9.5 rear .. offset will be stamped with " et_ " and number .. et35 for example ..

tyre size should be 215-40-18 with a 245-35-18 .. 8j/9j ..

By inner he means the back of the wheel. :) I use a mirror which saves time taking the wheel off. It will depend how dirty the back of the wheels are when it comes to visibility of the writings GOOD LUCK !!!

If I spend more than a few thousand rands on anything these days I research it broken on the internet first. Best of luck solving your problem :=):

The only other thing I see on the tyre is rear it has 90Y and front has 88Y

Hey check on the actual rims for the offset not the tyres. Its basically how in or out the rims is mounted from its center point. Google for a better description.

Not sure how bad the rubbing is, but might be an easier option to roll the fender a little. Not a big job at all.

Sucks they sold you something that doesn't fit/work:RedNo:

Those tyre sizes are correct, I have same tyres and size on my standard 135 rims. It's the offset of the wheel that would make it rub.

I had this same issue when I looked for a set of 19's, I was not willing to roll fenders so just bit the bullet and kept the standard rims.

Thanks guys I took my car to autoquip in fourways. They were very helpful and put new rims on my cars.. They said the offset on those rims were completely wrong..

No I have no scraping at all. I tested bumps at reasonably high speeds aswell.

My new rims are the A-Line Raps with a offset of 45.

My old rims had a offset of 0

offset of 0 .... I highly doubt that .. but definitely more aggressive than the stock wheels ...
