If the damage is more than 70% of the cars value then it's typically a write off.

Car can be written off and remain a code 2, but declared uneconomical to repair.. This happens allot even when damage is minor... Call it fraud or unethical behaviour results in the repair quote being unrealistically high so that the car will be written off. Guy buys a new car smashes it in a week. Insurer gets him a new one

Then code 3, which the car is structurally damaged and will be declared as a rebuilt

This seems to be happening more and more, and in my opinion, in most (if not all) cases it is fraud! :nonono:

I call it fraud as well

Guys becareful of a 2012 f30 328i advertised in Pretoria, car has been advertised as having a Mplan but when phoning bmw they say no plan. From this guys history this car is most probably an insurance write off and a salvage car from smd that he has fixed and trying to sell as a non write off ... He Buys and sells cars like this, but fails to give full details to the buyer ... This particular car might just be accident damaged and not anything serious like a write off but rather be careful than sorry and do your homework properly. The fact the he has changed his name and number on the ad, is for me enough to show he is hiding something
