If you want to shine up your tailpieces, get some Autosol.....best stuff around. Even polishes up galvanised sheet metal to a shiny chrome finish.

I used the finest sand paper available and some P11 with water to clean the 330d's tail pipes when i first got it. Then i used a Mag Wax to coat it as the Diesels get black quick. All it took thereafter was a quick rinse to get the soot off the edges.

Go through my thread in the showroom (click on signature link) for pics. Photobucket is down currently for me to add them here...

But, this post is to make them black. Best would be to powderkote them, but that would mean removing them first, this would be the proper way.

Otherwise, high heat spray pain would also do the trick.

As you can see, the paint on the not so hot parts still have their shine. Yet the exhaust box lots its shine. Dont know of the paint will last but its holding up well. Will see how it goes after a long trip...

That spray paint is a tad bit more expensive than the usual ones but what you see painted, is just one coat. Covers nicely so no need to go again. And, its not the high heat capable one, they have that also...

But it's worth it! I think I paid R99 for the can of 1200 degree heat resistant black Rust-Oleom - haven't used it yet, but intend to give it a go with the now rusty brake hubs on the E46...

Worth every cent... I think this was R70 per can! Yeah, still got a lot left. I need to tackle the hub of the brake disk, they look a tad ugly. But waiting to replace discs, then will paint the bits nicely before they go on the car...

Just be aware of temperature handling - anything less than 600 degree resistant is apparently looking for trouble. But don't your disk hubs have that grey powder coating? Might be better to simply clean and maintain than paint. Not sure though - mine (front especially) could do with a good clean!
