Hey guys. I'm new to the forum and to the BMW brand. I just bought a E90 320D M Sport in Le Mans blue and have been thinking of getting my rims powder coated matt black.

Here is the original

and here is the car with some photoshop done :)

Please please let me know what you guys think :) Much appreciated.

Yes it will work, but before spending money on cosmetics, do the following:

decat
remove swirl flaps

Grats on the purchase and welcome to the forum!

lmao at that photoshop bra :biglol:

But seriously, I think black wheels are being done too much nowadays. I do like darker wheels on blue cars also, but then rather shadow chrome like on the E39 M5, or gunmetal.

Otherwise I'd leave it stock

Rule of thumb:
Dark car, light rims,
Light car, dark rims.

That's it... Maybe a gunmetal colour, but silver would look best

Still, it is a personal choice

What is a decat and what do you mean by remove swirl flaps? What will doing this do? Does it help for performance?

Cool guys, thanks for all your input! I'm leaning to the gunmetal now :D

Do a search on the forum here for decat and swirl flaps.

I does help a bit with performance, but it's more to do with protecting the engine from self destructing.

Ok, now you're worried right. No worries, we're here to help. Do a search and come tell us what you think it all meand.

BTW, if you can moderately swing a spanner, this should be DIY all the way.

Decat is special stuff you put in your car so your animals, especially cats, don't wee on your seats.

swirl flaps are the little protrusions on your front and real spoilers - it prevents your car being blown away in a tornado, but it does produce additional drag. You can remove them with an angle grinder but then you have to be really careful of bad weather.

Thanks for the info dude  Do the E90s also have the swirl flap issue? have found some nice DIY's to remove them.

Where can I get a nice decat done? Speedys?

I got a montego blue e90 320d, bought some 193m rims last week and plan on spraying them gloss black soon :=): my personal opinion is that the black looks really awesome on the blue. I'll upload some pics now now
