I would love to join you guys but the breakfast is a problem for me and I'm sure it will be for all other muslim members. Is there something that can be done about this?

Just remembered now that news cafe prepare dishes with bacon in, so I highly doubt that they are halaal.

That wont be a problem at all, i was under the impression that the establishment had to be halaal certified and that normal bacon cannot be prepared in the same kitchen etc as any halaal foods?

Well .. lets not get into that kind of discussions because it would end up being a farce anyways ... to each his own but it comes down to more than just the ingredients used ... best we stay clear ... but that is my 2c.

The main aspect of the morning is socialising, so if you guys want to come along for the drive and a chat, and even if you simply join us for coffee even? I have spoken to the owner of Mampoer, and he doesnt mind at all if you bring along your own halaal food and eat it there.

My apologies for not thinking about the halaal aspect, next time we'll have more input before making a decision.

Hi Guys & Gals

Lets not get too much into the Halaal aspect of the get-together. The reality unfortunately is that there are very very few establishments that cater Halaal.

This is something that hasnt bothered me, I try and make the best of the situation. After all we a re getting together to spend time with each other, food, well umm is just a formality.

I know, sometimes it would be nice to be able to go all the nines, but this is the reality.

If you guys are up to it, I could always bring along some croissants (I organise the best in town) and cold meats!

I am used to packing a huge picnic basket!!! We can then just enjoy a lekker coffee??

Don, will they allow us to bring these along?
So let me know so that I can arrange accordingly! :thumbsup:
