bimmercode

Hi BMWFanatics,

Anyone using bimmercode and do you think there is a market to do coding for all BMW's? "Unlock BMW hidden features"

Would you pay to have these hidden features unlocked and what price would you pay?
Note: Not all cars can have features unlocked even if the option is there…
Just a topic that came up at the office. Thought I’d ask you’re input.

Cheers

There are quite a few coding options available. The cheapest is carly and at the moment the most user friendly. I use a couple of different coding tools but it depends on what requires coding...

I have esys that I use for coding and have retrofitted a couple of things (Touch idrive, lane departure warning etc) as well as enabled a few things pretty easily (extra HUD stuff for instance) for myself and others. I can see how it is not as comfortable as using Carly or Bimmercode for most people and of course you can literally brick your car if you do something wrong, but it is powerful if you know what you're doing.

I also have ISTA+. Between these two (and of course the electronic and mechanical know how for retrofits if required) I don't think you really need much else for a modern BMW.

As to how much someone would pay? I think enough people who are interested in this will be able to do it themselves. I toyed with the idea of doing this for guys at the office... but I am also wary of someone losing their plan and blaming it on me coding DVD in motion for them. :roflol:

Where there might be a market is retrofitting things now that alot of F-series are sitting in scrapyards... I've learned a lot about my own car as well as how BMW electronics work (not yet enough to charge someone for the privilege, but there are guys like OBDWorx that are pros and do certain retrofits)

Got BimmerCode and works well. Did the Paddleshift retrofit with it.
Will be coding cruise control with E-Sys later, if anyone knows how to do so without losing LIM as most guides dont have both Set and Lim.

Morning all,

So we gave Bimmercode ago yesterday on a 520D (out of warranty).
Had some awesome results. Everything went well with no hiccups.
What we coded in was the following:
• Unlock and lock beeps
• Folding mirrors
• Tyre temps and pressure
• Sports+ & sports display in the idrive
• No delay on boot opening(was set to 1.5 now 0)
• NAV
• Force braking lights and the list goes on.

Very cool App , we used the vgate icar pro for the OBD.

I came across this guy’s YouTube channel : https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCULVBFvClXe3M3iSoqc2qIw
Very clean F30, some nice DIY/ Bimmercode videos.

I always find these things interesting as I’m a Techie myself.

Thanks for all feedback and please post here if you find something that could help one out, if you come across any other cool apps, please drop a link.

Have great day!

Big up to you with E-sys, from what i've read it's said to be the safer option if you know what you're doing like you said, but my problem has been around the licence cost.

I had Carly for 2019 and when the licence expired i decide to go with bimmercode as it has a once off subscription....well besides the fact that i broke my idrive with Carly (can't tell what went wrong) it reads the usb in the armrest but reboots every few seconds until I remove the usb. Bimmercode has been good so far, i haven't retrofitted anything as yet though i'm considering to do so, (rear view camera and maybe NBT).

My F30 320d isn't equiped with a lot of modules  but i have been able to code a number o things.

Hi, have you tried coding the settings on your cluster? Like setting the background light on the dials to white at night? I've been trying to do so on my F30 but some of the comments from other forums say that it cannot be changed on F30 unless you remove the cluster and change the actual LEDs. What was said to be possible was changing the extended display to remain white even at night (instead of changing to orange).

Also, do you have a button to close the trunk or does it operate manually? I've read that you can also code it to close via the key button or button inside the car.
