Hey Sash

The changing of the intercooler and seals seems to have helped a bit > (http://www.fuelly.com/car/bmw/530d/2008/billionairebum/926152) .

No real updates apart from a full service. I am however struggling with the Angel Eye globes. Had a LED set in and the drivers side popped, ordered a new set from Jabsport (R800) and it lasted 2 months before the drivers side popped again.

Will need to figure that out. Your Coilover kit is making me insanely jealous, looks amazing.

Just an update to this: The issue was the connector on the front headlight to the Angel Eye and not the Globe itself.

So two small updates:
1: I installed bluetooth kit that takes power from the 12v Cigarette slot.
It was a small cheap upgrade but makes a great difference. This also sits
behind the dash

2: I ordered a cheap steering wheel cover/wrap from aliexpress, the reason I
ordered a cheap one was because I figured I may not be successful at
fitting it the first time which I was right. It feels really good, but the fit is
80%. It took about 6 hours to do.

There were a few leaks that were bothering on the boost pipes that I wanted to get fixed at the Yachts next service. After looking at what Sash had done to his 5ver, I knew the work would take a lot longer than the amount of time. and skill, I had to give it. After chatting my my brother, he happily opted to do the work that was needed. Some of the leaks:

Another problem that came up which I really did not expect was that the intercooler ws starting to fail. This intercooler was around 7-8 months old and I did not have time to exchange it and wait for another so I chatted to Tombo and  they managed to source me a new intercooler that was a different brand.

Sash helped me a lot with showing me what he had done with his boost pipes and this helped us decide how to fix mine. The new intercooler was bought and immediately had the end removed and new beveled ends welded on so that the new clamps would have something to hold on to.

The clamps used were high compression fittings from Mr.Turbo.

Some additional work such as fuel filter and diff oil were also replaced while it was over the service pit. There were a few seals that needed to be replaced as well and that could only be found by removing everything then ordering parts every 2 days or so. I basically lived at ABM for a week. Really really happy with how everything turned out. My brother did an incredible job, huge props to him. He attention to detail is irritating and costly and brilliant.

The sneaky bugger also got Keithan from RK Motion to install a Stage 1 map without my knowledge which I was VERY happy about. Our whole family is an RK Motion stable with all cars tuned by Keithan including my previous polo that was stolen about a year ago.

Hopefully some trouble free motoring fro the next few years. Thanks again to Keithan, Sash, my brother for all the help.

It just needs the 352 silencers to come out then its a proper diesel.

Well maybe next time you service her, she can make a trip to the fabricator.

@"Reece7brown" is the gent that did all the work in the last post.

Hi, what is the mileage on your car? Also, please explain in detail what you did re 1: "I installed bluetooth kit that takes power from the 12v Cigarette slot. It was a small cheap upgrade but makes a great difference. This also sits behind the dash" as i would love to have bluetooth in mine as well. What does the bluetooth unit costs, where did you buy it from and where and how did you install it? Will i be able to use my cellphone through the car radio as my 2005 model does not have that feature? Thanks in advance!

1: 211k km on the engine and about 120k km on the gearbox (replaced under warranty).
2: https://www.wantitall.co.za/electronics/drimfly-bmw-auxiliary-input-bluetooth-adaptor-music-streaming-for-bmw-5-series-6-series-7-series-e60__b07m85bqkl?gclid=CjwKCAjwwYP2BRBGEiwAkoBpAi5jEYD2keuXi03J4z3zpSV2lTbKFI269-otY_T777WhVOy_bWfvtxoCNuYQAvD_BwE.

You can get the unit from Amazon. I would do more research into your specific model.
I
simply connected this to the AUX of the radio and connected the power to the cigarette lighter. This allows bluetooth MUSIC streaming only.

My rear left door lock  actuator decided that it had had enough and conveniently broke will the door was closed and locked. I was not able to open the door from the inside or outside and not amount of pushing, pulling, locking/unlocking helped. I purchased a second hand rear lock from MD house and @"Reece7brown" decided to just have a QUICK look at it while I was fixing his ISTA installation. Next thing he had got the door open and replaced the lock. @"Reece7brown" also installed one of his EGR Cooler delete kits and removed the last of the unnecessary bits from the M57. HUGE thank you to him.

Very nice car. I heard it pulls quite well on the highway [Atlantic seaboard] as well.

A friend mentioned that it Moves deceptively lakka.

Very nice car!

So I decided to get the suspension components installed at TPH with Adrian as he is meticulous about his work and has always done more than was asked every time I have brought any of my cars to him. His pricing and work is fantastic and I cannot say enough good things about the man.

Original shocks, mounts and links WELL worn at 225K. Adrian also had a thorough look over the car and found that the upper rear control arms were worn and needed to be replaced. I got them a week later and they were replaced along with a wheel bolt that was cross threaded.

The ride quality is night and day and I am definitely enjoying the car a lot more through the corners. A lot of people say that the Bilsteins are very hard, but I do not find that to be the case in the 5ver. Now that almost all the maintenance is done, I am looking forward to doing some "Fun" upgrades to her in the future after seeing this at Adrian's shop.

Nice.
Adriaan also did 99% of the work on my Polo.
Very good honest guy.

Car is probably handling a lot better now?

( BTW, that downpipe is mine for the Polo)

Absolutely incredible cars these, no doubt about it.
I used to daily one (although not this nice) for a long while and everyday was a blast, even the days when things weren't perfect.
Well done on taking good care of it, enjoy it.

I'm sure the difference in comfort is noticeable. I have heard that the Bilsteins give a better feel through the corners without sacrificing much comfort.

You ended up doing the rear control arms as well?
