Best time to sell my car?

Hi All

I was just wondering out of interest when the best time to sell my M135i would be?

I took it to a dealer and they offered me R400 000 :thumb do:
The car is a 2013 M135i with 16 000km on it.

It seems that BMW depreciates very quickly!!
I also see that there will be face lift version next early 2015, which means it will take another knock in value.

My GTI held its value much better. LOL

The car is going to depreciate much faster once the LCI is released. It will presumably look more like the F22.

If you're enjoying your car I don't see any need to sell though.

Ya man GTI and Golfs in general hold their value very well. Both my last Audi and BMW had lost 52 percent of their value in 3 years and this was working of the sale price the seller no doubt probably lost 65percent or more.

Best time to sell would be before the LCI is out however either was a steep loss on a new car in inevitable.

If you enjoying it just keep it!

Agree with the above post.

If I can ask , do you have a residual ? If so you want to

Sell when you reach breakeven, usually in month 44 of a 72

Month loan.

Another alternative , buy a car in a depressed market when sales are low. That way

They are more eager do do better deals for you.

Luckily the car is paid off :)

One a side note, what do you guys think of the Golf 7 R?
I see the press and magazines all put it above the M135i on the charts
and that would have a better resale haha

Golf 7 R is nice, if I had to choose I would rather take an S3 all things equal, however neither are a match for a m135, yes they may be quicker off the line but IMO the m135 is a great package.

S3/7R are quarter mile cars, if you plan doing lots of Tarlton/ODI runs then go for it. M135i/S3/7R all great cars

The 1M is a Frankenstein BMW :tease:

Flamesuit on :fencelook:

Quoting my words without asking permission. :nono:

All new cars, except for some like the 1M, are a big loss.

That's why my last new car before the 1M was in 2004.

yep ,truth is BMW's do not hold value as well as the Gti's.

@ Cheff, you (I mean myself) buy any car with the thought of resale value, unless you plan on keeping it forever or if you have a lot of money to waste. I have a family, a bond, need to plan for my kids future, my retirement, so I am very anal about my finances, hence I never buy furniture or stuff on HP, cause in the need the product costs me more. As much as I am a hardcore BMW fan, I'm not going to blindly let myself loose a lot of money.

That said, its always best to buy on a shorter finance term, with no residual/baloon. If you do you end up paying just interest that first two years.

remember one thing bro, GTIs and S3s and OPCs hold their value quite well because its a car that is in demand by the younger generation. that's why you can get the price you want but on trade in, you will experience the same thing you are now.

like Chef says, you don't by a BMW and think of resale

OPC's don't hold value very well :nonono:

And neither do S3's; been there, done that. Go for the Golf GTI or R if you want good resale.

Thing is OP has already bought a m135, vat and depreciation has already been lost. As good the VAG cars are at keeping their value all new cars drop.
Keep the 135!

Keep the M135i
It really is an overall package.

Quick on a straight, fun around the bends with RWD, has that stealth look, and all the premium comfort features.
The Golf 7R is just flavor if the month right now. Goes fast in a straight and is pretty inside.
