Being different isn't always a good thing...

So after tying to be a bit brave and different with the choice of rims on my car I have learnt sometimes it's not that good an idea to be different.

Still haven't received the 'correct' tyre sizes. 235/355/19 front and 265/30/19 in the rear. :argh:

Was assured offset was right, but it wasn't. :thumbdo: A few of you guys pointed it out in the previous pics I posted.

Can't return for a full refund. Was given some lame excuse. So tired to cut my losses and just make the best of the situation.

Got balancing, alignments and 3mm spacers done and nitrogen filled.

Before:

After:

So... If this doesn't do it then I'll probably just sell these rims and tires and get the competition wheels like I originally wanted.

I like the wheels but offset is baaaad... I can provide you with larger spacers from H&R that are safe...

otherwise sell these wheels to someone with a non M or an e46/e36 should fit those better than yours...

Ash... Well you've true with the spacers but a bit too conservative with the size- I did advise you that I was running 12 mm spaces all round with 19s sitting on 245 and 265s-
So with that offset, you could have gone at least 10mm.

Hey, it doesn't look any worse.
The profiles are the deal breaker... What's the supplier say about sorting it?
I was sceptical when you said that you could drive away and come back for another set of the correct profile- who does that?

It's all about costs to the supplier.. If he can get away with closing the deal with the wrong product, then hey.... It's money in the bank for him.
Misinforming the customer just rubs me up the wrong way

I think I'm gonna have to do just that. I also like the style of the rim but this offset is proving to be an issue. Wild I need spacers for and the front and the back?

Indeed so man. They were giving me excuses about how they tried to get the correct sizes and DID order the correct sizes but can't get them any longer. On the plus side I did get all of the same patterns. They did offer to give me the correct size with different thread in the front as to the back.

It was my very stupid mistake to pay for these before I checked them on the car. I did document the everything and sent a repot to the consumer protection act, but I'm not going to hold my breath.

That being said, I do really like the style of the rim, but had I known the inconvenience that comes with it, I would have never gone for it.

I'm leaning towards selling them now... If I can get R13k for these then I'll let them go and just get the standard competition reps. Have put on a about 200km's or so they're practically brand new.

Ashish are you sticking to that tire size?

Well that's the thing. I'm kind of OCD when it comes to things to this car. So with the incorrect profiles and the need to get the RIGHT spacers, I'm thinking of selling.

I did however take it to my BMW dealership and they said its fine and won't affect my MP.

Sell the rims...wrong off-set cannot be fixed with spacers only.

Next time buy the correct off-set and stay away from replicas as well. Your car deserves the best. Rather save up for the right and ideal wheels you always wanted.

Agree with Twinz. Takes more than spacers to correct a wrong offset, ask me how I know...

In this case, I do think bigger spacers would help alot so if you decide on keeping the rim,go 10mm or bigger. And if you do go with spacers, get decent ones like bms or h&r's,it's important. I purchased h&r's from Moranor a while back and workmanship on those are brilliant.

True- consider weight when fitting spacers too- so go for a good brand

The car looks great and the wheels look good, but IMHO the combination does not seem right. Try sifting through images on E90 post and M3 forums - there are better combos out there. Don't look at wheels in isolation - try to find pics of the wheels you like on the same car as yours, especially the same colour before changing.

I agree with Twinz here. Get the real Competition Pack wheels with the correct tyres.
That being said, the current wheels do look good, but on an M3, you need the OEM wheels.

as mentioned, spacers can never fix the problem with incorrect offsets. simple maths can show us.

take a relatively aggressive "wrong" offset, ie e46/e90, this is what, ET35?
the "correct" offset for M3 is like ET20, and that is conservative.
so a 15mm spacer, which is a brick, is going to bring you to OEMish offset. (at the rear)
in the above scenario, the spacer is not doing what it's job is IMO.

changing an ET20 wheel to ET10 with a 10mm spacer is another story all together

True... The spacer suggestions was to bring the cars look as close to OEM as possible as they are so far off at the moment.
The cars top heavy and I suppose , apart from replacing the wheels altogether the cheaper option would be to push the wheel out, using spacers .

H&R spacers go up to 50mm so you can fix this and them some if you really wanted to...

1st prize is always to get the offset perfect when buying wheels but if you unable to get a wheel that is aggressive enough fitting high quality spacers is also a good option...

If you can get a good price on these wheels then sell and buy new wheels if not look at spacers...
