Sooooooooooo much better - I bet you feel 15 years younger behind the steering wheel already, now that the wood trim is gone

Small update...

The M3 was due for a new set of rubber all round (in the right sizing this time), and managed to serendipitously procure a set of wheels off our very own 4PipeR...

So I present to you, the M3's new shoes.

Pardon the wretched quality pictures and littered driveway.

I saw this car at Burgys place and thot to myself why was this car neglected. After these pics you have made this car look so awesome. :praise::praise: well done to you for time in restoration of this beaut. Jet black is rare these days .

Thanks dude... she's still a long way from where she needs to be though, and it's a process, as and when finances allow.

The car's seen a bit of a rough life at the hands of a lacksy-daisy previous owner. And while the service records were up to date, I had little faith in everything having been done correctly, so figured I'd ensure everything was up to spec.

Hence, I've mainly been focused on mechanical stuff - getting the Vanos sorted, valve adjustment service, intake, decat, etc.. Cosmetics are relatively easy to sort out down the line, but a stuffed motor necessitating a rebuild is a whole different ballgame...

Next up is a bit of rear suspension work, diff oil change, brakes, and then cosmetics - full leather restoration inside, and body touch-ups all round + spraying & fitting the CSL front bumper + CSL boot lid.

Somewhere down the line I'd like to do bearings as well, just as a preventative measure - but in the meantime, I'll do oil changes every 5k km.

BB no need for 5K oil changes as you are currently running on one of the finest motor oils.

10K will suffice and keep the bottom happy.

Also warming up and driving slowly will ensure longevity of the bottom end as well as other internals.

my 2c worth.

Ta Peter

I still need to put the Liqui Moly in... Oops..

If 10k will do, then 10k will do. And yeah, she gets babied under 3000 RPM until the oil reaches 75°C

Philip give me a call next week and drive by here and we will dump the old stuff.

I just need the space to put the ramps up and should have it by Thursday I recon.

Hundred percent, thanks Peter. Figured I'd wait for you to finish up with Chris' car first before I bug you with further work, so I've been laying low and keeping an eye on progress in your thread. ;)
