Hey Guys

Hoping to gather some info on a 652 vs 658 battery on a 2002 e46 330d AT.

As I understand it, both will fit and work correctly. I'd like to know if there is any significant advantage to forking out the extra cashmoneys for the 658?

I am planning on replacing my current 652 asap, and I'd much rather get advice from you guys than from Okkert or Frikkie at the local Midas:=):

(Relevant components installed - Multifunction Steering, CCFL Angel Eyes, Electric Seats, BMW Business CD Head Unit, HK Sound System, ASC, Rear Window Blind, Auto Climate Control)

Thank you kindly.

Go Bokke!

Bigger battery, results in less strain on the battery, especially during cold starts, I'd go 658, especially since it's a diesel.

A 652 has not got enough AH (amp/hours) for a 3.0d. You are wasting your money ! Check the manual and get the correct battery with about 90AH if my memory serves me well.

From the little understanding I have any battery will work. However 90AH plus will last longer as the load won't affect it as much. Less discharge will require less charge from the alternator and the plates will deteriorate slower.

Vica versa if you put a 40/45 AH (which does work BTW) won't last half as long as a 90AH.

Depends what you want to do and spend.

Consider getting a battery from the agents. It is more expensive but they last. My e46 still has the original battery. The merc also has original battery since 2003. The e30 on the other hand get a new battery every two years. Next time i replace will be a battery from the agents. (if i can afford it then) lol

I have a Sabat
Varta was owned by the Quandts so it was probably oem

This battery I had fitted the same week I bought the car almost 2 years ago. I can't remember what was in before.

This Sabat is giving me the best experience with a battery ever. Never ever runs flat, not even after six hours of the radio (plus sub and amp) going while working on the car.
